The country is getting ready to celebrate the 250th Fourth of July. One event that has gotten many people talking is the upcoming “UFC Freedom 250” event, set to take place on the White House’s South Lawn. Recently, late-night host Jimmy Kimmel discussed the event, making an interesting prediction of sorts. That said, he made a joke about what he suspected wasn’t going to happen.
The White House’s ‘UFC Freedom 250’ Is Set To Take Place On June 14
The United States is set to celebrate its 250th anniversary next month. In the meantime, various groups are planning various celebrations across the country.
The White House is set to host a mixed martial arts event, “UFC Freedom 250,” on the South Lawn on June 14. The early date has a dual purpose, as the event will also help commemorate President Donald Trump’s 80th birthday.
Since the news has come out, various figures have weighed in on the story. As previously reported, UFC president Dana White warned that he was worried that the weather, such as rain or lightning, could impact the event. He also expressed concern about insects, thinking about his own time attending a Rose Garden dinner.
Jimmy Kimmel Recently Played Weatherman During An Episode Of His Late-Night Show
During a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the namesake host also brought up concerns about the weather during the UFC fight. He shared, “Right now, there’s a 46% chance of rain in Washington on Sunday.” He also noted that, “UFC CEO Dana White said the fight will go on even if lightning strikes.”
However, Kimmel joked that lightning wouldn’t be an issue during the proceedings. In reference to Trump’s 2024 electoral win, he shared, “If God wanted the White House to be struck by lightning, that would have happened 18 months ago.”
Kimmel then poked fun at the event taking place in June rather than closer to the Fourth of July holiday. He shared, “They’ve been billing this as a celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, even though it is taking place on Trump’s 80th birthday. We’re holding a Fourth of July party on June 14th. A holiday that is named the 4th of July is on June 14th.”
Kimmel also discussed renovations being made for the event. In particular, he poked fun at a Monster Energy banner hanging at the stage. As he joked, “Could there be a better metaphor for this administration than a giant Monster Energy logo on the White House lawn?”
