GMA Host Ditches Show
Michael Strahan was last on Good Morning America on Friday, June 5. He’s on an extended break from the morning program, but hasn’t revealed why. He’s one of several ABC talk show hosts gone MIA in recent weeks. The View host Joy Behar has been in Europe for the last two weeks, taking her play, My First Ex-Husband, to stages in Paris and England. It had a successful run in New York City last year.
Robin Roberts missed a few days at the end of May while she was in South Africa overseeing the filming of a Lifetime movie she’s producing about the final survivor found after the Twin Towers collapsed.
She briefly returned to the show to leave again for an assignment. But Michael Strahan hasn’t been seen on the show in a week.
Michael Strahan Resurfaces Amid Mysterious Absence
Michael Strahan effortlessly joined GMA full-time after leaving LIVE with Kelly and Michael in 2016. Kelly Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, currently co-hosts that show with her. So, fans noticed when the former NFL player isn’t on. Neither Michael Strahan or his co-hosts has addressed his absence.
Rachel Scott and Rebecca Jarvis have stepped in to join George Stephanopoulos at the anchor desk. However, Michael Strahan resurfaced on social media amid a national frenzy. Most of the country is rooting for the New York Knicks to beat the San Antonio Spurs for the NBA Championship. After losing Game 3, the team rebounded in Game 4, taking a 3-1 lead. They only need to win one more game to win the series.
Michael Strahan took to social media several times this month to show his support for the New York Knicks. He shared a photo ahead of Game 4 with his dogs posing next to a statue wearing a Knicks jersey. Before Game 3, he posted proof that he’s been a Knicks fan for years and not just a bandwagon fan. The Good Morning America anchor posted several photos from MSG’s “celebrity row,” including photos with CBS Mornings host Gayle King next to him. In another photo, he’s next to comedian Tracy Morgan.
The celebrities have come out in full force to support the Knicks as they near the championship. President Trump attended Game 3, but was met by massive boos from the crowd. Taylor Swift went viral for attending Game 4 in custom “Stevie Knicks” shirts. She sat next to hardcore fan, Law & Order: SVU‘s Mariska Hargitay, who attends nearly every home game.
