A lot goes into putting on a show, which means all sorts of things can go wrong behind the scenes. Sheinelle Jones recently opened up about one backstage incident on social media. This also came out after a brief absence from the show.
Sheinelle Jones Shared A Behind-The-Scenes Incident On Today During An Instagram Story
Sheinelle joined Today in 2014 as part of Weekend Today. By 2019, she became a co-host on the program’s third hour.
Last year, Sheinelle became a co-host on the show’s fourth hour alongside Jenna Bush Hager. She was stepping into the role from Hoda Kotb, who stepped away from the program earlier in the year, with Jenna working alongside a rotating number of guest co-hosts in the interim.
Fans recently saw Sheinelle take a long weekend away from the show, with Savannah Guthrie filling in for her this past Monday. She returned to the show the following Tuesday, filling in for Carson Daly during the show’s earlier hours.
Behind the scenes, however, Sheinelle took time to share a funny moment with fans. In a recent Instagram Story, she stated, “Hi, everybody. This is Kelly,” with a co-worker, Kelly Marie O’Neill, shouting, “We’re not going through the garbage!”
Kelly Suggested That Another Co-Worker Could Help, While Sheinelle Felt That They Should Try Plan A First
Sheinelle then explained, “We are in the bathroom of The Today Show, upstairs. And I was washing my hands, as you should after you use the restroom, and my ring fell off in the trash can. And so, I’m in here, by myself, like, crying because it’s in there.”
Sheinelle suggested that Kelly get a clothes hanger and use it to pick the ring out of the trash. Instead, she suggested asking another colleague, Nelson, for help. When Sheinelle didn’t seem to recognize the name, Kelly explained that he was “the guy who cleans for us. He solves all of the problems.”
As noted by TV Insider, Jones still thought it was for the best just to try a hanger, as Kelly left to get one. As the video came to a close, Sheinelle asked, “What would you do? We have to go through the trash. We’ll be right back.”
Jones didn’t divulge if the ring she lost was a wedding ring or simply part of her outfit for the day. In the post, she included an illustration of a ring alongside a trash can.
