Alannah Keyser’s arrival in Casa Amor was supposed to shake up the villa, but the newest “Love Island USA” bombshell is now facing intense backlash online after resurfaced videos and social media posts sparked controversy among viewers. Just hours after Keyser made her debut during Sunday’s episode, social media users began circulating clips that allegedly show the reality star using the N-word while singing along to a song. Viewers also uncovered an old Instagram comment in which Keyser allegedly used the same racial slur. The timing of the clips remains unclear, and neither Keyser nor “Love Island USA” production has publicly addressed the controversy.

According to reports, the resurfaced footage is believed to be an old Snapchat video and appears to show Keyser singing along to Roddy Ricch’s hit song “The Box,” which includes the racial slur in its lyrics. The brief clip is low quality and has not been independently verified.

The resurfaced content quickly triggered outrage across social media, with many viewers demanding that Peacock and the show’s producers take action. “Do they even f-cking do research at this point? Because how was this so simple for people to find, and yet production didn’t? ‘Love Island’ needs to f-cking step it up. Second person this season, dude,” one user pointed out.

Another said, “Okay, that Alannah girl is DEFINITELY racist because she was making out with Caleb, Bryce, and Zach, but KC, Corbin, and Sincere only get a twerk from a distance? And then she got mad when KC touched her.”

The latest controversy comes just weeks after another Season 8 contestant was reportedly removed before filming began.

‘Love Island USA’ Has Faced Similar Controversies Before

According to reports, Vasana Montgomery was dropped from the cast after videos surfaced allegedly showing her singing the N-word in song lyrics. At the time, a source close to production told Decider that the clips were privately owned and only came to the show’s attention after Montgomery had already been announced as a cast member.

The franchise has also dealt with multiple incidents involving contestants’ past social media activity and podcast appearances.

Last season, contestant Yulissa Escobar abruptly left the villa after viewers uncovered podcast clips in which she could allegedly be heard using the N-word. The show acknowledged her departure during the second episode, and Escobar later issued a public apology.

Fellow Season 7 islander Cierra Ortega also faced criticism after a resurfaced post containing an anti-Asian slur circulated online. At the time, narrator Iain Stirling informed viewers that Ortega had exited the villa “due to a personal situation.”

Days later, Ortega addressed the controversy in what she described as an accountability video. “I had no idea of its meaning,” she said, explaining that she was unaware the term she used was considered a slur.

Reality TV Casting Controversies Have Plagued Other Major Franchises

“Love Island USA” is far from the only reality show to face criticism over contestants’ past social media activity.

One of the most high-profile examples came during Season 25 of “The Bachelor,” which featured Matt James as the franchise’s first Black male lead. During the season, contestant Rachael Kirkconnell faced intense backlash after photos resurfaced showing her attending an Old South-themed plantation party while in college.

The controversy quickly became one of the biggest storylines of the season and sparked a larger conversation about race within Bachelor Nation. The fallout intensified when then-host Chris Harrison defended Kirkconnell during an interview, leading to widespread criticism and ultimately his departure from the franchise.

Kirkconnell later issued a public apology, writing that she was “wrong” and acknowledging that her actions had contributed to racial insensitivity.

Why Reality TV Producers Keep Facing The Same Problem

Other reality franchises, including “Big Brother,” “Survivor,” and “The Challenge,” have also faced scrutiny over contestants’ past online behavior, with social media users increasingly digging through old posts, videos, and comments once cast members are announced.

As a result, reality television producers have faced growing pressure in recent years to strengthen their vetting processes before contestants make it to air.
