DaBaby is rolling into Los Angeles this Sunday night. The Charlotte rapper confirmed a live appearance at Keys Los Angeles for the evening after the BET Awards, announcing it on Instagram and tagging the venue.
The post was eight words: “THIS SUNDAY IN LA AFTER THE #BETawards” with a fire emoji. He didn’t include a ticket link, a start time, or any guest names. He put it out and kept moving.
Keys Los Angeles is a well-known nightlife destination in the city. It draws industry players and fans during major entertainment weekends.
The Sunday night slot after the BET Awards is some of the most valuable time on the LA social calendar. That’s the prime window. The industry crowd is still in town at that point, still charged up from the ceremony, and looking for somewhere to be.
The BET Awards is one of the most significant nights in Black entertainment. The ceremony has been celebrating hip-hop, R&B, and Black culture for more than 25 years. Every June, it draws artists, executives, and fans to Los Angeles.
The weekend around it takes on a life of its own. Afterparties, surprise sets, and late-night performances fill out the schedule before and after the show.
Some of the most talked-about moments of BET weekend don’t come from the stage. They happen in the hours after.
DaBaby, born Jonathan Lyndale Kirk, came out of Charlotte’s rap scene and started getting national attention around 2019. His debut studio album “Baby on Baby” put him on the map. His self-titled project “Kirk” followed that same year and kept the momentum going.
Then “ROCKSTAR” arrived in 2020, featuring Roddy Ricch, and went to number one on the Billboard Hot 100. The song held the top spot for weeks and became one of the defining rap records of that year. It elevated him from a buzzing regional name to one of hip-hop’s biggest commercial players.
He’s kept the work rate up since then. Additional projects followed, including 2022’s “Back on My Baby Jesus S*** Again.” He’s stayed active on the live circuit and keeps showing up for the key moments on the hip-hop calendar.
For anyone already planning to be in LA for the ceremony, Sunday night at Keys now has a clear headliner. The crowd walking in will be riding that awards-night high. That’s a room that doesn’t need much of a warm-up.
As of Tuesday, no additional details have been released. Ticket information, stage times, and any supporting acts haven’t been announced. People hoping to attend should follow Keys Los Angeles for updates.
The play is clean. DaBaby isn’t on the BET Awards stage. He’s taking the night after it, in a city that runs late.
The crowd will already be in full celebration mode. Eight words got the job done.
