Taylor Swift‘s reported falling out with Blake Lively has already generated weeks of speculation, but now another Hollywood actress has unexpectedly found herself in the middle of the drama.
Actress and playwright Zoe Kazan sparked backlash from Swift’s fanbase after sharing a theory about why Lively was reportedly left off the guest list for Swift’s wedding to Travis Kelce. The comments quickly ignited debate online before Kazan ultimately deleted the posts altogether.
The controversy began when Kazan shared a series of posts on X discussing what many readers interpreted as Swift’s decision not to invite Lively to her July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden. While Kazan never mentioned either woman by name, the timing and details led many social media users to conclude she was referencing the ongoing speculation surrounding Swift and her former close friend.
“I think she didn’t invite her because she has come to the end of her marriage plot, thus cutting off access to her first great subject,” Kazan wrote, appearing to be referencing Swift’s long history of drawing inspiration from her relationships in her songwriting, a topic that has followed the pop superstar throughout her career.
Kazan doubled down moments later, arguing that Swift may now be finding new inspiration elsewhere. “Rather than root for her own divorce, she is generating the next chapter of interpersonal drama for herself via female friendship,” she added.

Kazan’s remarks landed at a particularly sensitive moment. For years, Swift and Lively appeared inseparable. The singer was even named godmother to Lively and Ryan Reynolds‘ children, making reports of a fractured friendship especially surprising to fans.
Speculation intensified after Lively and Reynolds were absent from both Swift and Kelce’s rehearsal dinner and wedding festivities despite the event reportedly hosting around 1,000 guests. The situation became even more complicated earlier this year when previously sealed messages connected to Lively’s legal battle with Justin Baldoni surfaced publicly.
One message reportedly showed Swift expressing frustration over changes in their friendship dynamic. “It feels awful to be in any way critical of any way you process what you’ve been going through, but I just kinda miss my funny, dark, normal-speaking friend who talks to me as herself,” Swift allegedly wrote, per Forbes.
Given the rumors already swirling about Swift and Lively’s friendship, Kazan’s comments quickly struck a nerve with fans, many of whom felt she was unfairly speculating about the singer’s personal life.
Swifties Fire Back

The response from Swift’s fanbase was swift and unforgiving. Critics accused Kazan of making assumptions about a friendship she knew nothing about, while others questioned why she was publicly commenting on the situation at all.
One user wrote, “Zoe, take your meds and then find something to audition for. This is incredibly jobless.” Another asked, “So Zoe Kazan is upset she wasn’t invited to Taylor Swift’s wedding? Are they even friends?”
As criticism mounted, Kazan attempted to clarify her position. “Hilarious to me that this is being read as critical!” she wrote. “She’s explicitly made her love life the subject of her work, yielding many good songs. Now, as a storyteller, she needs a new subject. What a touchy fandom.”
The explanation did little to calm the backlash.
The Actress Eventually Deleted The Posts

By Wednesday morning, Kazan had removed the posts entirely. Before stepping away from the conversation, however, she took one final swipe at the reaction she received from Swift’s supporters.
“I don’t know what’s worse, if she likes having fans be so mean in her defense or if she doesn’t and they behave this way anyway,” Kazan wrote, though the actress later deleted that message as well.
Taylor Swift’s Wedding Continues To Generate Headlines

While Swift and Kelce’s wedding was intended to celebrate the start of a new chapter in their relationship, the event has continued to generate headlines for reasons beyond the ceremony itself.
The couple reportedly exchanged vows in front of roughly 1,000 guests at New York City’s Madison Square Garden on July 3, with a star-studded guest list that included some of Hollywood’s biggest names. However, the absence of Blake Lively and Ryan Reynolds quickly became one of the most talked-about aspects of the festivities.
