John Stamos recently made headlines during an interview when he weighed in on whether or not he would appear on Dancing with the Stars. Since then, one figure from the long-running competition series has shared a response. This was Sharna Burgess, who has had multiple roles throughout the franchise, from dancer to judge.
Sharna Burgess Has Been Part Of Both The American & Australian Versions Of Dancing With The Stars
Burgess is an Australian ballroom dancer who is known to many as a pro partner and troupe member on Dancing with the Stars. She appeared on the American version of the series from 2011 to 2021
During this time, Burgess won Season 27 of the show alongside Bobby Bones. In addition, from 2019 to 2025, she served as a judge on the Australian version of the series.
Recently, the reality show became a topic of discussion on Bones‘ own podcast series, The Bobbycast, with guest John Stamos. At the time, the Full House star claimed that he had been invited to appear on the show virtually “every single season.”
As Stamos shared, “I said, ‘Don’t ever ask me again. I’m never gonna do that show,’ What makes that show good is people suffering and looking like fools. They’re breaking their feet, calluses. I don’t want that.”
According to EntertainmentNow, days later, Burgess responded to the share in a since-deleted Instagram Stories video. Starting things off, she noted that some fans might wonder why the conversation concerned her since she has since left the show. She noted, “Why do I care because I’m not on the show? Because I was on the show for 15 years.”
John Stamos Also Discussed Backlash Bobby Bones Received After His DWTS Win
Of course, Burgess had a personal connection to the share, as Bones was her partner during her Mirrorball Trophy win in 2018. She shared, “Because the man that you’re speaking to is the man that I won with, who was the underdog, who laid it all out on the floor every time on what he did not start off being good at.”
Regarding Stamos’ comments, she continued, “That is the last thing Dancing With the Stars is about.” Ultimately, she felt that the real point of the show was the growth and transformation of these competitors, proving that they can do what they set their minds to, instead of hurting and humiliating them.

As the outlet noted, during his conversation with Bones, Stamos also discussed the backlash Bones previously faced for his win. At the time, both co-host Julianne Hough and former host Tom Bergeron shared that they thought he didn’t deserve to win.
For his part, Stamos joke “You shouldn’t have won,” speaking in defense of his former Fuller House co-star Juan Pablo Di Pace. As he teased, Stamos claimed that the show was “rigged,” adding, “I was gonna call ABC!”
