Antiques Roadshow‘s Theo Burrell’s Family Announced The Tragic News On Social Media
Theodora “Theo” Burrell was a British antiques specialist. She worked at the auction house Lyon & Turnbull and was known to many for appearing on Antiques Roadshow.
Burrell had joined the BBC program, in which specialists help examine and appraise objects, in 2018. During her appearances, she served as a ceramics and decorative arts specialist.
In June 2022, at the age of 35, Burrell was diagnosed with glioblastoma, an aggressive form of brain tumor. Following this, she underwent various treatments, including brain surgery radiotherapy, and chemotherapy.
Tragically, Theo’s family announced that she had passed away at the age of 39. In a post on Instagram, the family wrote, “It is with great sadness that I share the news that Theo passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on Wednesday afternoon. Neither she nor her medical team foresaw this happening quite so quickly.”
The Post Took Time To Thank The Cancer Community For Its Support
The post continued, “She was an incredible person who fought hard for her family, friends, and raising awareness of this cruel disease.” As the family noted, Theo was still able to celebrate a number of life events during her final years, with the tragic news being announced just months after her wedding. As it was shared, “She saw life events like her son’s first day at school and her wedding that a little over 4 years ago we thought she’d never see.” According to People, Theo married her husband, Alex, on March 28.
Following her own diagnosis, Theo became a patron of the charity, Brain Tumour Research. During their share, her family also noted the comfort she was given in turn from others facing similar health issues. As it read, “The cancer community provided so much comfort and strength to her in her darkest moments. But most of all it provided hope and I think what she would want most of all is for other people to find hope in her story.”
In the comments, Brain Tumour Research’s official Instagram account also shared condolences after learning of Burrell’s passing. As it was shared, “We are heartbroken that we have lost the phenomenal, determined and truly inspiring Theo to this devastating disease. She constantly inspired us with how big her heart was and we will continue on our mission, driven by everything she taught us. Our thoughts are with her family, her friends and with all those who had the privilege of knowing her.”
