It’s been a tough time for Savannah Guthrie. Her mom went missing, and after searching for her with no results, she returned to work. However, after being missing from the show for a couple of days, fans are starting to worry. Keep reading to find out what we know so far.
Unending Trauma For The Family
It’s been a hard few months for Savannah Guthrie after her mom, Nancy, went missing. The family dropped Nancy off at her house in January, never to see her again. The 84-year-old seemingly disappeared into thin air. With no proof of what happened other than a masked person tampering with the home security, the family is offering a one-million-dollar reward for her safe return. As of now, there have been no updates on finding the culprit.
“It is five months of agony and unending trauma for our family. There is not a moment that goes by that we aren’t actively trying to find our mom,” Savannah said earlier this summer.
There have been a few ransom notes circulating since she went missing; however, it has not been proven whether those are all legitimate or not.
“The FBI and its task force partners have received several ransom notes over the course of this investigation. Some have been deemed to be extortion attempts without legitimacy. Other ransom demands may potentially be legitimate and are still being investigated as such,” The Sun reports.
While time continues to pass, Savannah has returned to her job at Today. But now, she’s missing, and fans are getting worried.
Savannah Guthrie Gone From Work
With the Guthrie family being so hot in the media right now, it’s no surprise that red flags went up as soon as Savannah was missing from her spot on Today. For two days, she had a fill-in with no explanation given. Both Laura Jarrett and Sheinelle Jones have been stepping in for Savannah while she’s gone.
While it may seem this disappearance is inevitably tied to her mom’s case, it’s actually not. In fact, Savannah was getting some much-needed family time with her two children.
So, fans can rest easy knowing that Savannah is okay. However, she is still looking for her mom and asks Today Show viewers to help.
“Someone needs to do the right thing. We are in agony,” she pleads. “And to think of what she went through. I wake up every night in the middle of the night. Every night. And in the darkness, I imagine her terror. And it is unthinkable.”
