According to 3 Down Nation, Saskatchewan Roughriders linebacker Jayden Dalke of Leduc, Alberta passed away on Saturday at the age of 30. The accident occurred on Highway 11 between Regina and Lumsden, Saskatchewan. Dalke was one of two people who died, as it was a two vehicle collision. One car was found in the ditch and the other car was found in the median.
Dalke was with the Roughriders the last five years. He was the sixth round pick, 54th overall, by the Roughriders in the 2022 Canadian Football League Draft. Dalke played his university football career with the University of Alberta Golden Bears.
In 68 games, Dalke had 69 defensive tackles, 31 special team tackles, one sack, one interception and three forced fumbles. The interception came in a 17-13 Roughriders win over the Edmonton Elks on June 11, 2023, and the sack came in a 27-12 Roughriders loss to the Calgary Stampeders on October 26, 2024.
Dalke was on the Roughriders team that won the 2025 Grey Cup. At Princess Auto Stadium in Winnipeg, Manitoba, the Roughriders defeated the Montreal Alouettes 25-17.
In 2026, Dalke only played two games for the Roughriders. He missed three games due to a hand injury.
The Roughriders had the bye this past weekend. They are in second place in the West Division at four wins and one loss.
