Tammy and Amy Slaton had a combined weight of over 1000 pounds when the show began. They needed to slim down to qualify for bariatric surgery. Amy reached her goal in 2019, but her sister resisted and really struggled with losing weight. However, she finally succeeded and had the surgery in 2022.
Losing a massive amount of weight isn’t easy. And dropping the pounds is just half of the battle. Drastic weight loss leaves behind a lot of loose skin. TLC addresses skin removal surgery on several of its shows. Tammy Slaton already had surgery to remove over 15 pounds of loose skin. Despite losing weight first, Amy Slaton has yet to have the surgery.
However, she revealed in the Season 9 trailer that she’s finally ready to focus on herself. Among her goals are skin removal surgery and learning to drive.
