Jerry O’Connell & Giuliana Rancic Were Briefly In A Relationship Between 2003 & 2004
Giuliana Rancic is an entertainment reporter and television personality. She previously became known as an E! News co-anchor. She has been married to Bill Rancic since 2007.
From 2003 to 2004, Rancic briefly dated actor Jerry O’Connell. However, the relationship later gained notoriety for how it ended, with Rancic detailing their break-up in her 2015 memoir Going Off Script.
As noted by Page Six, Rancic alleged that O’Connell broke things off with her over an intercom. She had claimed that he had told her, “Nope, sorry, homegirl. Things change, but you take care, OK?”
Over a decade after the book’s release, O’Connell addressed the story during the “Let’s Talk Off Camera” podcast with host Kelly Ripa. He confessed that he doesn’t “recall [his] exact wording” during the split, but didn’t dispute it.

O’Connell explained, “I can’t deny that I said that. It doesn’t sound like something I would say, but again, if I was writing a memoir, it made for a good quote.” That said, he “applaud[ed]” Rancic for “using colorful dialogue and everything” in her memoir.
However, O’Connell admitted that he had been a “terrible boyfriend” to the journalist. He ultimately issued an apology, sharing, “[Another woman] was inside my condominium. … Giuliana Rancic wanted entry into my condominium. Thank goodness, buzzer, gate, security. I paid a pretty hefty homeowners’ fee for these things. Cameras and everything.”
O’Connell continued, noting that the relationship “was [already] in trouble” and was coy over whether they were exclusive. He recalled, “I said, ‘I did not know you were coming. You can’t come here unannounced.’ Notice no one had a key, so the relationship was not like that. There was no warning, and I didn’t want someone coming in because I didn’t want any confrontation.”
During the conversation, O’Connell also touched on a short-lived relationship with another star: Buffy the Vampire Slayer‘s Sarah Michelle Gellar. He shared, “We were kids, and Sarah Michelle dumped my ass. She was the smartest one. Sarah Michelle took one look at me and was like, ‘I’ve got to get away from this drunk. One and done.’”
