The View goes on summer hiatus starting next week. When it returns in September, the talk show may look completely different. ABC is reportedly slashing the budget, including the cast’s pay, ahead of a milestone Season 30. Keep reading for all the details.

FCC Reportedly Rules Against The View

The View and Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk show found themselves in the crosshairs of the Federal Communications Commission (FCC). Network television is under strict rules requiring them to provide equal time to all political candidates unless they are exempt under the “bona fide news” program exemption.

The View has been exempt from the equal time rule up until now. The FCC decided to take a closer look amid a bitter feud between the ABC show and President Trump. Bloomberg reported that the FCC plans to rule against The View, classifying it as an entertainment program, not a bona fide news program.

The ruling is expected sometime before Labor Day, right as the new season begins and the election season heats up. If the FCC rules the ABC talk show as entertainment, The View will be required to give equal time to all political candidates.

The FCC is also looking into revoking Disney-owned ABC broadcasting stations’ licenses completely. Several local ABC stations were put under early renewal procedures amid the FCC investigation. The issue became more tense after several networks declined to air President Trump’s speech last week.

ABC Show Faces Shocking Cast Budget Cuts Ahead Of Season 30

With the FCC watching closely, The View hosts have been on their best behavior. But the tension could boil over with shocking budget cuts. ESPN, which is also owned by Disney, recently went through a round of layoffs. Sports analyst Ryan Clark was notified of his firing during a commercial break and didn’t return for the rest of the program.

It’s unlikely that budget cuts would result in the firing of one of The View‘s six hosts. However, an insider told Page Six that the hosts are likely looking at a pay cut ahead of Season 30. Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro and Alyssa Farah Griffin reportedly took pay cuts in 2025 before Season 29. The insider claimed that Alyssa Farah Griffin was also denied a raise.

The budget cuts affect other aspects of the show, too, including wardrobe. “They’re all mad because they were all wearing really expensive designer clothes, and now it’s the same budget of a Wendy Williams-type show versus a marquee daytime show,” the source claimed. “They keep downsizing and downsizing and downsizing.”

Despite taking a pay cut, Whoopi Goldberg reportedly earns a seven-figure salary. She previously said she can’t afford to retire. Stay tuned for more details on The View‘s milestone Season 30.
