The former opener described Bumrah as an “uncut diamond,” highlighting the immense value he brings to the Indian bowling attack in every format of the game.
“Workload management of Bumrah is going to be very important heading into the World Cup. He is India’s uncut diamond,” said Srikkanth on Star Sports.
Bumrah has consistently been India’s pace spearhead over the years, earning a reputation for delivering in the biggest matches. His ability to swing the new ball, bowl pinpoint yorkers at the death and maintain relentless accuracy has made him one of the finest fast bowlers in world cricket. According to him, India’s chances of winning the tournament depend heavily on the fitness of the star pacer. Srikkanth also backed Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj to make a significant impact in South African conditions, pointing to their ability to exploit seam movement and extra bounce. However, he maintained that Bumrah remains the leader of the attack and the one bowler India simply cannot afford to lose.
“Bumrah being there is India’s only chance of winning the World Cup. Without him, India has no chance, looking at the rest of the bowlers. Apart from him, Prasidh Krishna and Mohammed Siraj can contribute a lot on South African wickets,” Srikkanth added.
