Selena Gomez Sparks Drama With Taylor Swift
Selena Gomez and Taylor Swift have been best friends for years. So, fans were shocked to see a snarky comment left on a post about her alleged bestie.
This all started when Taylor attended Game 4 of the 2026 NBA Finals. The game was between the New York Knicks and San Antonio Spurs. It’s important to note that Selena is a Spurs fan and Taylor was decked out in Knicks attire. She attended the game with Mariska Hargitay and the Haim sisters, all of whom were matching Taylor’s attire and jumping up and down for the Knicks’ victory.
A post got shared on social media of Taylor and her friends, and that’s when the drama really started. Selena commented ‘lol’ under the post.
Of course, that sent fans into a spiral thinking that Selena was bashing her best friends.
However, the singer is now setting the record straight.
Selena Clears Things Up
On her own social media, Selena posted a story clarifying what exactly went on, Reality Tea reports. Apparently, when she woke up, her phone was flooded with texts and questions about her comment
“Woke up and was sent so many texts,” she starts the story.
She then explains that she would never insult her friends. In fact, her comment wasn’t even directed at the picture of Taylor with the group. It was directed at another picture in the post.

“I would never insult my friends, nor was it an insult. The comment was a reaction to the first slide on the page.”
She continues by explaining she actually had a bet going with her friends on this game.
“Second, I bet my friends on the game. The friends in the text chain I posted. I lost but was poking at my opponents, my friends. Believe it or not, I do have other friends in my life. But quickly forget that most assume otherwise,” she writes.
She ends the whole story reminding everyone of something they seem to have forgotten. “Also…it’s a basketball game,” she writes.
Clearly, Selena is not standing for the slander when it comes to how she treats her friends. She makes it clear that she would never say or do anything to hurt them – especially online.
