Ryan Reynolds recently made a surprise appearance at San Diego’s Comic-Con. The actor, known for his work in superhero films, ended up getting a surprising reaction from fans. However, some were wondering if the moment had an underlying purpose.
Ryan Reynolds Crashed Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday Presentation
Reynolds is a Vancouver-born actor who has become known for a variety of films throughout his career. These include National Lampoon’s Van Wilder and The Proposal.
In particular, Reynolds became known for starring in a number of superhero films. These include Blade: Trinity, X-Men Origins: Wolverine, and Green Lantern. One of his greatest commercial successes has been portraying Deadpool in the character’s namesake franchise.
Recently, Reynolds made a surprise appearance at San Diego’s Comic-Con. The actor crashed Marvel’s Avengers: Doomsday presentation on July 25. At the time, he jokingly attempted to obtain a last-minute role in the finished blockbuster.
Reynolds appeared in Hall H, joining the likes of Robert Downey Jr. and Paul Rudd. His own involvement with the film has not yet been confirmed. However, he teasingly asked when production was set to start. Downey Jr. responded, “It’s in the can, bro.” In other words, whether or not Reynolds was joking, if he hadn’t already filmed scenes for the film, it’s too late.
The upcoming film is expected to introduce new X-Men characters into the film franchise. Keeping the joke going, Downey then gestured toward the attendees and said, “Look around you.” Turning to Reynolds, he asked, “Did you bump your head?”
If All Else, Some Fans Admitted The Moment Was Perfectly In-Line For Deadpool
Reynolds then pretended to be upset. Asking if there wasn’t any last-minute chance that he could still appear, he asked, “I see. So there’s no additional photography, no overages, maybe last-minute additions…?”
However, on social media, many commenters disliked the cameo. A few accused the actor of self-promotion, while many also felt that the Deadpool character was already overexposed.

Others were genuinely wondering if Reynolds was simply teasing appearing in the upcoming film after all. Of course, a few pointed out that trying to insert himself into the movie would be perfectly in-character for Deadpool. Some comments included:
- “Is Ryan Reynolds already in Doomsday or just trolling?”
- “Ryan Reynolds begging for a Doomsday cameo is pure desperation. Deadpool’s already overexposed and Marvel doesn’t need him wrecking another film.”
- “Wait is this actually real or just another ryan pr stunt, dude never misses a chance to insert himself into everything, kinda getting old at this point tbh.”
- “lol ryan really out here begging for a role like that so theres no additional photography is pure deadpool energy, marvel better just give him a cameo already or the fans will riot.”
- “Either they are all really good actors or they can’t stand Ryan Reynolds.”
- “Ryan reynolds has reached the level of job security where he can publicly ask for work while dressed as the job.”
- “Deadpool finding out the movie wrapped before he could crash it is the most Deadpool thing ever.”
