They pleaded guilty to conspiracy charges after paying half a million to get their daughters into the University of Southern California. The Full House actress spent 2 months in prison. The scandal was a huge shock, given Lori Loughlin’s “good-girl-next-door” image. She was released from prison in late 2020 but had a difficult time finding work. She was let go from Hallmark’s When Calls the Heart amid the scandal. However, she reprised her role of Abigail Stanton on the show’s spinoff, When Hope Calls, in 2021. It was her first acting job after prison.
Six years after her time in prison, Lori Loughlin is making a huge comeback. It was already announced that she’s returning to When Calls the Heart in Season 14. She’s also returning with a new Garage Sale Mysteries movie. The Full House alum is rumored to make her reality TV debut in The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills.
But it almost didn’t happen. Her “blind spot” for her estranged husband nearly derailed her comeback. At least, according to her friends. Sources told Radar Online that her estranged husband had a “hold” on her. “She can’t bring herself to hate Mossimo and even now she’s still finding ways to defend him. He’s got a real hold on her, even now,” the source said at the time of the former couple’s separation.
Lori Loughlin reportedly blamed “post-prison trauma” as the reason for their split. “It’s like she can’t let go, even after all the hurt and pain he’s put her through,” an insider said.
John Stamos Spoke Out Against Mossimo Giannulli
Lori Loughlin still has the unwavering support of her Full House co-stars. John Stamos spoke up in her defense last year on a podcast. “She put up with a lot over the years of this guy,” he said on the Good Guys podcast.
“For a girl who has lived her life really well, a good person, a good mother, a good wife – I know all this for a fact – to be thrown into now this separation and, you know, exploding, blowing up her family this way… I just hate to see her go through this. I really do,” he added.
