    Canada wins 6i gold medals on day 5 of Commonwealth Games

    Team Canada continued to generate medals at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Tuesday. Canadian athletes generated six gold medals and 14 medals overall (two silver medals and six bronze medals).

    Canadian gymnast Felix Dolci of St-Eustache, Quebec is having an incredible Commonwealth Games. He won two gold medals on Tuesday (men’s vault and men’s horizontal bar). The other four Canadian Commonwealth Games gold medalists were Maude Charron of Rimouski, Quebec (women’s 63 kilogram weightlifting), Charlotte Simoneau of Saint-Hyacinthe, Quebec (women’s 69 kilogram weightlifting), Kylie Masse of Windsor, Ontario (women’s 50 metre backstroke swimming), and Camryn Rogers of Richmond, British Columbia (women’s hammer throw). Canada’s two Commonwealth Games silver medalists were Oliver Dawson of Grande Prairie, Alberta (men’s 200 metre breaststroke) and Noah Vucsics of Calgary, Alberta (men’s long jump for athletes with a disability). Canada’s six Commonwealth Games bronze medalists were Lia-Monica Fontaine of Salaberry-de-Valleyfield, Quebec (women’s balance beam), Dolci (men’s parallel bars), William Emard of Laval, Quebec (men’s horizontal bar), Nicolas-Guy Turbide of Quebec City, Quebec (men’s 50 metre freestyle swimming for athletes with a disability), Lorne Wigginton of Calgary (men’s 400 metre individual medley swimming) and Sophie Angus of Pickering, Ontario (women’s 50 metre breaststroke).

    In the men’s vault, Dolci had a winning score of 13.766 points. Luke Whitehouse of England had a silver medal winning score of 13.749 points. Neofytos Kyriakou of Cyprus won the bronze medal with 13.733 points. Dolci reached the podium by .033 points. Muhammad Sharul Aimy of Malaysia finished in fourth place with 13.733 points.

    In the men’s horizontal bar, Dolci had a winning score of 14.233 points. Marios Georgiou of Cyprus won the silver medal with a score of 14.166 points. Emard won the bronze medal with a score of 13.566 points. Dolci reached the podium by a full point. Alexander Yolshin-Cash of England finished in fourth place with 13.233 points.

    In the women’s 63 kilogram weightlifting, Charron had winning lifts of 232 total kilograms (a Commonwealth Games record). Sarah Davies of England won the silver medal with a lift of 217 kilograms. Femily-Crystie Notte of Nauru won the bronze medal with a list of 216 kilograms. Charron reached the podium by 18 kilograms. Kiana Elliott of Australia finished in fourth place with 214 kilograms.

    In the women’s 69 kilogram weightlifting, Simoneau had winning lifts of 240 total kilograms. Harjinder Kaur of India won the silver medal with 227 kilograms. Nya Phebe Hayman of Australia won the bronze medal with 218 kilograms. Simoneau reached the podium by 23 kilograms over Ketty Lent of Mauritius, who lifted 217 kilograms.

    In the women’s 50 metre backstroke swimming, Masse had a winning time of 27.32 seconds. Iona Alexandra Anderson of Australia won the silver medal with a time of 27.45 seconds. Lauren Cox of England won the bronze medal with a time of 27.56 seconds. Masse reached the podium by 0.55 seconds. Danielle Hill of Northern Ireland finished in fourth place with a time of 27.87 seconds.

    In the women’s hammer throw, Rogers had a winning throw of 74.91 metres (a Commonwealth Games record). Lauren Bruce of New Zealand won the silver medal with a throw of 69.82 metres. Lara Roberts of Australia won the bronze medal with a throw of 68.05 metres. Rogers reached the podium by 7.57 points over Charlotte Payne of England, who had a throw of 67.34 metres.

    In boxing, two Canadian women advanced to the semifinals. Scarlett Savannah Delgado of Oakville, Ontario defeated Greer Hall of New Zealand in the quarterfinals 5-0 in the women’s 54 kilograms. Delgado next faces Lauren Mackie of England. Marie Al-Ahmadieh of Montreal, Quebec defeated Rosemarion Otieno of Kenya 4-1 in the quarterfinals in the women’s 60 kilograms and next faces Fatima Zahra of Pakistan.

    In wheelchair 3×3 basketball, Canada will now play England in the semifinals of men’s and women’s action. In Tuesday play-in games, Canada beat South Africa 15-5 in men’s play and Wales 21-3 in women’s play.

    Team Canada is third in the Commonwealth Games medal standings with 35 medals (13 gold medals, 10 silver medals and 12 bronze medals). Australia leads with 80 medals and England is second with 43 medals.
