The “Evergreen” singer finally appeared in a one-hour special during the show’s second season. Magnum P.I. star Tom Selleck appeared on the daytime talk show to promote his new movie. However, the discussion dissolved into an argument about gun rights. Rosie O’Donnell confronted him about his connection to the National Rifle Association (NRA) and an ill-timed promotional poster just one month after the Columbine school shooting.
“Columbine had just happened. It was 1999 and he had an ad in the magazines that said, ‘I am the NRA.’ I was so torn up about Columbine that I just didn’t give up,” she said about the confrontation. However, Tom Selleck wasn’t her worst guest on the show.
She named Keanu Reeves as the worst. “I love the guy, but he’s not good on talk shows,” Rosie O’Donnell explained. She, on the other hand, is very good at talk shows.
Rosie O’Donnell Hints At Return To Daytime TV
Rosie O’Donnell went on to co-host The View for two short-lived tenures. She recently shared hopes of returning as a guest co-host for the ABC show’s upcoming 30th season. But if they don’t take her up on the offer, she’s already booked for another hosting gig. She’s among the guest hosts filling in for Jimmy Kimmel this summer while he’s on vacation. However, there’s a rumor that she’s eyeing taking over the late-night show for good.
Rosie O’Donnell took to social media to share a message she received about a bombshell news report. The outlet warned her that their report claimed she was “willing to go behind his back with ABC executives to make it happen.” There has been a lot of chatter about Jimmy Kimmel possibly retiring or even getting fired amid his ongoing feud with President Trump.
However, Rosie O’Donnell swiftly shut down the speculation that she’s after Jimmy Kimmel’s job. However, she teased that she’s open to returning to daytime, though she didn’t clarify if she meant on The View or reviving her daytime talk show.
“Ha funny – and completely untrue. I leave [for] ireland the day I’m done guest hosting for jimmy – where my child starts the 8th grade – I’m not interested in doing late night – daytime however would be interesting,” she wrote in response to the message.
