KSI Asks Followers If They Would Get An Ex Tattooed For $1

KSI threw one question at the internet on Tuesday and let it work.

The British YouTuber, rapper, and boxer put a single line on Instagram: “Would You Get Your Ex Tattooed For $1?” No image, no caption. The question was the whole post.

It sounds simple. It isn’t. A dollar isn’t a real price – it’s a dare in disguise. It strips the financial argument away completely and leaves only the personal one: can you wear someone’s name on your skin forever, for the cost of a piece of gum?

That’s the hook. And it lands. Everyone has an ex they’ve never quite let go of. Or one they’ve spent years trying not to think about. KSI didn’t invent the question. He dropped it into millions of feeds with his name attached and let it run.

Born Olajide William Olatunji in London, KSI built one of YouTube’s biggest channels. He got there early. The concept of making a living on YouTube was still new. He started turning it into a career anyway. He grew the channel through comedy, challenge videos, and sheer volume. Then he expanded. Boxing came next – he headlined two high-profile matches against Logan Paul. Both drew millions of viewers worldwide and proved he wasn’t just an internet personality playing dress-up. He put out music after that. He kept moving. The generation of creators he came up alongside started to thin out. KSI didn’t.

That staying power comes from reading moments right. A simple post beats a complicated one every time. The premise just needs to be sharp enough. Tuesday’s question had a sharp premise.

The post collected close to 35,000 likes on the day, with no reposts. People weren’t broadcasting their answer. They pressed the heart quietly and kept scrolling. In its own way, that might be the most honest answer anyone gave.

Nothing came attached to the question – no music announcement, no boxing news, no setup. KSI left it standing on its own. It could be a standalone thought. It could be the lead-up to something. He hasn’t said.

That’s its own kind of move. You never know with KSI. A post could be a joke, a setup, or just a Tuesday thought. The line between those options is thin, and he walks it on purpose.

Beyond the laughs and the quiet “absolutely not” reactions, the ex-tattoo hypothetical taps into something real. Permanent marks. Past love. The gap between what you’d do for money and what you’d never do for any amount. Drop the price to a dollar and suddenly the question isn’t about money at all.

    It’s about you.

That’s the part that gets people to like the post. Even when the answer is no.
