Today Show Host Still Absent Despite Expected Return
Sheinelle Jones and other Today Show anchors have been filling in for Savannah Guthrie and Craig Melvin. Savannah Guthrie has been off, filming an upcoming TV game show based on the New York Times‘ popular Wordle puzzle. Meanwhile, Craig Melvin has been enjoying some much-needed time away after a scary experience at the NBC morning program.
Craig Melvin hasn’t been on the show since July 20th. Sheinelle Jones said on Tuesday, July 28, that her co-host would be back on Wednesday. However, he still wasn’t back. Fans are a little worried, but he’ll be back on the morning news program eventually.

His break from the Today Show was planned before the intruder broke past security to confront him. Craig Melvin has been enjoying time with his family at Hilton Head Island, South Carolina, with his wife, Lindsay Czarniak, and their two children.
As the co-host of a major television program, Craig Melvin doesn’t get many chances to change up his appearance. He got his ear pierced in 2021 and the show made a huge thing about it. But anything goes on vacation. He debuted a shocking new look on social media, but it was approved by the only person that matters: his daughter.
“Last full day of paradise and the scruff just got approved by my most important critic 👧 Apparently growing it out is a vacation win. Hair growing, soul restored, daughter approves—what more could you ask for? Soaking in every moment before we have to leave this place,” he wrote in the caption on a photo that showed off his temporary facial hair.
His daughter wasn’t the only one who approved the new look. His followers took to the comments to share their appreciation for the scruffy look.
