Fans Have Been Following Derick Dillard’s Marine Corps Ambitions On Social Media Over The Past Few Months
In a post, a Marine Corps badge could be seen in the palm of Derick’s hand, which was resting against personalized camo. In the caption, Jill wrote, “OCS successfully completed! @derickdillard is officially a US Marine!”
Jill has been keeping fans up to date about Derick’s Marine Corps ambitions over the past few months on social media. Back in April, a few weeks before Derick shipped out for active duty to Quantico, Virginia, the family also shared on their blog just what their next plans are. At the time, the blog noted, “Lord willing, after Derick’s 10 weeks of intense training at OCS, Jill and the kids will move to join him in Virginia, and then Rhode Island for the remainder of his training.”

It was noted that this had been something Derick wanted to do for a long time. As the blog shared, “Becoming a military JAG officer has been something Derick has wanted to do for a long time, and he even received a recruiting letter last year from the Marine Corps, but the timing just wasn’t right for our family, and then by the time we were ready, we weren’t sure the opportunity would still be available.”
Taking to the comments, fans shared their reactions to the update. While many wanted to congratulate Derick, others also wanted to highlight Jill for the support she gave him as he accomplished this goal. Some comments included:
- “Congratulations to Derrick!!! But also congratulations to you for doing the solo parent thing in order to support him during his journey!! I’m sure it wasn’t easy for both of you!!!”
