PC maker Asus has shared a YouTube video showcasing a new accessory that turns your standard bike into an e-bike.
The Oxiis E250G1 Intelligent Bike Booster is essentially a small electric motor that attaches to the bike’s seatpost. It works by lowering a small wheel onto the back tire to add extra propulsion when needed.
The E250G1 also comes with an app that shows you your ride time, battery percentage, current speed, and the ability to change the drive mode to one of three settings: Eco (best for flat terrain), Normal (smooth, balanced power), and Sport (instant boost for steep climbs and speed).
Something really nice about the Asus Oxiis E250G1 is that the battery is removable and rechargeable via USB-C.
Let’s shift over to specs. The E250G1 is rated at 250W, with peak power of 500W. With a 158.4-watt-hour, 36-volt battery, the E250G1 can travel up to 50km in eco mode and sports a max speed of 32 km/h. It takes only 2 hours to charge, but it requires a 100W PD charging block.
If you’re worried about rain, it has an IPX-4 rating, which essentially means it can handle light rain, wet roads, splashes, and small puddles.

Currently, the E250G1 only appears on Asus’ US website, with the Canadian website excluded. However, I imagine it won’t be long before these make their way north and start showing up on bikes all across Toronto.
