Jenna Bush Hager Warned Against ‘Lighting A Match’ During A Discussion Of Prince Harry & Meghan On Today
News came out that Prince Harry and Meghan would be relocating from the United States to a private, non-royal residence outside London. Their children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, are also believed to be enrolled at a British school this upcoming fall.
Back in 2020, Prince Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties. This was around the time the two moved to California. Despite this, there hasn’t been any confirmation that the two will return to their previous roles with the return.
Recently, the story became a topic of discussion on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle. For her part, Jenna Bush Hager felt that this was something of a learning moment. Jenna mused, “It’s a lesson for everybody. When you leave something and say you’re never going back… [don’t] light a match.”
Jenna Also Reflected On How The Couple’s Children Have Changed Over The Years
Sheinelle Jones then recalled the circumstances surrounding the couple’s 2020 departure, joking that their attitude was “We’re out. Hello, US.” Jenna noted, “They sort of threw whatever at the institutions that exist in the U.K.” She continued, “It’s hard to say things like that and then be like, ‘Well…,’ throwing her hands in the air.”
Jenna also reflected on the impact this could have on the kids. In particular, she highlighted the couple’s visit to the U.K. last month, in which they brought their children to see King Charles III and Queen Camilla for the first time in four years. As she noted, “Think about little kids’ lives, how much changes in four years. It’s like, [they’re] totally different humans.”
Earlier in the conversation, Jones also mused on the reasons behind the move. She listed suggestions including Harry simply being “homesick” to the couple feeling that “the grass isn’t greener” in California. Later, she mused, “Our parents aren’t getting any younger… and, so, you know, you want your kids to know their grandparents and their cousins and their family members. I mean, who they are, right?”
