Winnipeg Blue Bombers sign UFL standout Kyahva Tezino

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers have signed American linebacker Kyahva Tezino, the team announced on Monday.

The native of Los Angeles, Calif. was named All-UFL with the Birmingham Stallions in 2026. He recorded 68.0 tackles, three tackles for loss, three forced fumbles, and one pass knockdown over 10 games.

The six-foot, 224-pound defender was named All-USFL with the Pittsburgh Maulers in 2023 and won a UFL championship with the Stallions in 2024.

The 29-year-old signed with the New England Patriots after going unselected in the 2020 NFL Draft. He had subsequent stints with the Carolina Panthers, San Francisco 49ers, and Pittsburgh Steelers but never dressed for a regular-season NFL game.

The Blue Bombers have also released Global linebacker Ayo Oyelola.

The six-foot, 223-pound defender was a third-round pick in the 2021 CFL Global Draft out of the University of Nottingham. He spent the 2021 season in Winnipeg and dressed for one regular-season game. He returned to the team in June but didn’t dress for a regular-season game.

The 27-year-old native of Dagenham, East London has stints had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars and Pittsburgh Steelers as part of the league’s International Player Pathway (IPP) initiative. He had long practice roster stints with both teams but did not dress for any regular-season games.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (5-5) will host the Montreal Alouettes (9-1) at Princess Auto Stadium on Friday, August 28 with kickoff scheduled for 8:30 p.m. EDT. Last week, the Alouettes torched the Ottawa Redblacks, while the Blue Bombers suffered a second-half collapse to lose to the Edmonton Elks.

The weather forecast in Winnipeg calls for a high of 25 degrees and a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN and RDS in Canada, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on TSN 690 (English) or 99.5 Montreal (French) in Montreal or CJOB 680 in Winnipeg.
