Kanye West’s planned return to the Russian stage has been thrown into confusion after the venue set for his October performances publicly denied any involvement with the concerts.

Ye was scheduled to perform two sold-out shows at Gazprom Arena in St. Petersburg, but the venue suddenly said no agreement had been signed.

The promoter behind the events, however, is insisting the concerts remain on the calendar, leaving fans caught between conflicting announcements and an increasingly uncertain path to the performances.

The uncertainty began when Gazprom Arena announced that Kanye West’s scheduled October 10 and 11 performances would not take place at the stadium.

The rapper was expected to become the first major Western artist to perform in Russia since the start of the war in Ukraine in 2022.

The venue initially addressed complaints about the planned concerts before offering a more fundamental clarification, revealing that it had never agreed to rent the stadium for the shows.

“Due to the complaints involved to Gazprom Arena regarding the organization of Kanye West’s concert, we officially inform that Gazprom Arena was not and is not the organizer of this event,” the arena wrote on Instagram.

The statement continued, “‘Gazprom Arena’ did not sign any contracts for the stadium rent for the event. There is no such agreement. Accordingly, the concert cannot take place on our site.”

Despite the venue’s statement, Say Agency, the Moscow-based company promoting Kanye West’s concerts, has rejected reports that the performances have been canceled.

The agency said it was itself caught off guard by Gazprom Arena’s announcement and only became aware of the venue’s position after seeing its social media post.

“We learned about [the announcement] from the media at the same time you did,” the agency noted per the Daily Mail, adding that it was “trying to contact the venue to find out the reason for the post and resolve the issue.”

The promoter subsequently attempted to reassure concerned ticket holders. In a follow-up message, Say Agency wrote, “We want to assure you that the concert has not been canceled. Preparations are proceeding as planned, and the dates remain listed on the artist’s official website.”

The agency acknowledged that problems had emerged but said discussions were underway to address them. It urged fans to wait for confirmed information rather than reacting to reports circulating online.

The venue confusion is unfolding against a wider backdrop of controversy surrounding West and his efforts to rebuild his public image.

The 49-year-old has faced intense criticism over antisemitic remarks in recent years, including the release of a song titled “Heil Hitler” and merchandise featuring a swastika.

Although West has since apologized for some of his past conduct, the backlash has continued to follow him internationally.

Russia has not been entirely welcoming to the proposed performances either. One politician publicly condemned what he described as West’s “disgusting antics,” adding another layer of controversy to plans that were already attracting significant attention.

Despite that criticism, Say Agency appeared to stand behind West just days before the latest dispute with Gazprom Arena. The promoter posted a photograph of the rapper on Instagram, alongside a message arguing that his past comments should not be viewed in isolation.

“Not everything Kanye West has said deserves to be forgotten!” the agency wrote. It continued by saying that many people were criticizing West for things he said during difficult periods, while arguing that it was “harder to truly listen to the person who has been transforming the industry for decades.”

West’s Russia Comeback Faces Another Challenge As Producer Lawsuit Targets ‘Bully’

The uncertainty surrounding Kanye West’s planned return to Russia followed another problem tied directly to his music career.

Earlier this month, Pitchfork reported that a producer who said he worked on West’s “Vultures 2” and “Bully” albums filed a lawsuit alleging that he was not paid or properly credited for his work.

He also claimed that artificial intelligence was used on “Bully,” despite West having previously stated otherwise. The producer sought more than $110,000 in damages.

According to the lawsuit, the producer was brought in on an “emergency basis” just two days before “Vultures 2” was released in August 2024.

He claimed he created at least 13 custom AI voice models, more than 400 individual vocal generations and source material using his own voice, with his work appearing on five tracks. He later contributed AI vocal programming to “Bully,” which was released in March 2026.

Kanye West Settles Lauren Pisciotta Lawsuit After Years Of Legal Dispute

While the producer lawsuit created another legal headache for the Yeezy mogul, another major case against him was resolved a few days prior.

As Page Six reported, West and former assistant Lauren Pisciotta reached an unconditional settlement in July 2026, ending a lawsuit that had expanded substantially since it was first filed in 2024.

The financial terms were not disclosed, and Pisciotta was expected to file a dismissal within 45 days of the July 23 settlement filing.

Pisciotta initially sued West for sexual harassment, wrongful termination and breach of contract over her employment with him between 2021 and 2022.

She said she was offered a $1 million salary for being available to West around the clock and later alleged that she lost additional income after West asked her to delete her OnlyFans account.

Her complaint was subsequently expanded to include allegations of sexual assault, sexual battery and other serious misconduct.

West denied the allegations, with his representatives previously describing the claims as “baseless” and “fantasy fiction.” Pisciotta’s attorney, Arick Fudali, confirmed the resolution, saying “the matter has been resolved.” No criminal charges were filed in connection with the allegations.
