Joseph Olmo has spent years reporting from the Washington, D.C. area. However, he recently shared that things were coming to an end when it came to one chapter of his career. He later teased what will happen next for him.
Joseph Olmo Has Worked For Various Outlets Throughout His Career, Including NBC4 & Telemundo 44
Olmo has been a reporter for NBC4 Washington since 2024, based out of Washington, D.C. Prior to this, he served as part of DC News Now for around three years.
Olmo started his career in media with The CW as a freelance journalist. During this time, he served as a host of “Vida Hoy DC,” a documentary focusing on Hispanic Heritage Month in Washington, D.C. Ultimately, he has covered the capital region for around seven years through such outlets.
During a recent NBC4 broadcast, Olmo delivered a career update while on the air. At the time, he explained that he was stepping down from the series.
During the show, Olmo explained, “Well, before we go tonight, I’ve got just one more story for you. After almost 10 years in broadcasting, tomorrow night I will hit the streets of the DMV one final time as a local news reporter.”
Despite his exit, Olmo expressed his passion for local reporting. He continued, “You can cover the world, but nothing compares to being a local news reporter. Because think about it. Who else would tell you about all the things happening where we live?” He added, “To watch all these moments in person and then share what I see with you has been so cool.”

However, Olmo expressed that he had other dreams that he wanted to pursue. He shared, “In life, you are often encouraged to dream big. But what happens when you have several dreams? I firmly believe our time here is way too short to get to the end and wonder what if I had tried that?”
As Olmo continued, he also expressed his gratitude towards his team at the news outlet. He shared, “Whenever you watch us on TV or online, remember one means many. You may see one person on at a time, but there are hundreds of people who get us here.” As he signed off, “And to my entire NBC 4 family, I say thank you for letting me be part of this accomplished team. And to everybody who watches us, thank you.”
Following this, Olmo also took to social media, where he teased what he will do next. He shared, “Tomorrow, a chapter of my life comes to an end. It’s bittersweet — I’m saying goodbye to one dream… in order to fulfill another. The good news? I’m staying right here at home. And if you know anything about me, then the next chapter won’t be much of a surprise.”
