Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos purchased a $12 million townhouse in New York City in 2013. Their three kids still lived at home and grew up in the luxurious home. Their oldest son, Michael, was around 15, and their youngest, Joaquin, turned 10 that year. Their middle child, and only daughter, Lola, was 12.
All three are now in their 20s and starting lives of their own. Lola lives in London while pursuing a music career. Kelly Ripa’s two sons are both working in the entertainment industry. But if they don’t have nearly as much success as their parents, the kids have money to fall back on. Or so they thought. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos made shocking comments about robbing their kids of an inheritance.
Kelly Ripa brought up the “ski trend” to her husband on LIVE with Kelly and Mark. The trend actually has nothing to do with skiing. According to the report she read, the trend is actually “spending your kids’ inheritance.” Parents are apparently spending their hard-earned money on travel instead of saving it to pass on to their children.
Mark Consuelos loved the idea. “Make your own pile,” he said about their offspring. He went on to question who came up with the idea of passing on all your money to your children. “When did that come into play? Like, give your kids your inheritance? Who started that? Some anonymous husband?” he asked.
Kelly Ripa conceded that it probably was some “anonymous husband” who came up with the idea. She also agreed with her husband that her kids should make their own pile of money and joked that she’s already planning their next kid-free vacation with the inheritance.

Kelly Ripa took a break from joking about divorcing her husband to joke about leaving her kids penniless. But her husband agrees with her. He previously spoke out about who he really wants to leave the money to but the laws prevent it.

During an earlier discussion on LIVE with Kelly and Mark, the couple discussed a surprising inheritance law. Mark Consuelos shared disappointment in knowing that dogs are considered property, and therefore, ineligible to be named heir. “I’m leaving everything to Lena,” he joked.
