The View came under fire a few years ago for being unwelcoming to conservative or Republican guests. One conservative podcast host claimed he was banned from the show. Now, the show is under investigation by the FCC for allegedly breaking the “equal time” rule for candidates of all political parties. But even before the FCC investigation, the show began opening up a seat for conservative guests. Former House rep Marjorie Taylor Greene was a guest three times, most recently in July 2026.
With Season 30 starting soon, The View is looking at bringing on more conservative guests, starting with former Trump press secretary Karoline Leavitt. Keep reading for all the details.
The View Extends Invitation To Former Trump Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt
Karoline Leavitt is the last person you’d expect to see on The View. But ABC is reportedly wooing her to join the show after she quit as press secretary. Karoline Leavitt served as assistant press secretary alongside Kayleigh McEnany in President Trump’s first term.
She was named press secretary at the start of his second term in January 2025. She took a short maternity leave after welcoming her second child, a daughter named Viviana, in April 2026. Several people in Trump’s administration, including Vice President J.D. Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio, filled in while she was gone.
Karoline Leavitt returned to the White House briefing room in July. However, President Trump made the shocking announcement at the beginning of August that she was leaving her job at the end of the month to spend more time with her children. Her last day as press secretary was August 27. Is The View her next job?

PEOPLE magazine confirmed reports that the ABC talk show was pursuing Karoline Leavitt. However, they want her to appear as a guest, not as a guest host or permanent co-host.
Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar, Sara Haines, Ana Navarro, Sunny Hostin and Alyssa Farrah Griffin return on Tuesday, September 8, for Season 30.
Fans Divided Over Her Appearance
Karoline Leavitt hasn’t accepted or declined the offer to appear on The View. But she did already reveal her next move after leaving the press secretary position. She’s resuming her work with MAGA Inc., a super PAC that supports President Trump.
The former press secretary is a controversial choice as a guest, given the disdain The View hosts openly express for Trump. Fans took to Reddit to share their divided reaction to the idea.
- “I can’t stand the woman, but having her on is the point of The View.”
- “The ladies will hold her toes to the fire”
- “I mean great for the rates but unless she exposes Trump, why give her platform to spread lies”
- “Bad choices after bad choices for guests. It’s just a book club these days and promos for Disney. They don’t know their audience anymore.”
Season 30 is a milestone one for The View. There is speculation that the show will bring back many of its former co-hosts, such as Rosie O’Donnell, to celebrate the huge anniversary. So far, nothing has been confirmed about the returning hosts or Karoline Leavitt’s possible appearance. Tell us in the comments if you want her to take the hot seat.
