Today‘s Dylan Dreyer Shares Three Sons With Ex, Brian Fichera
Dreyer is a journalist known for her work as a meteorologist and co-host of the third hour of Today. She joined NBC News back in 2012. Outside of the show, she recently became known for her family-focused podcast series, The Parent Chat.
In her personal life, Dreyer shares three sons with her ex, Brian Fichera, who is known for working as a producer and freelance cameraman for NBC News. These are Calvin, Oliver, and Russell.
Over the years, Dreyer has been open about her oldest son Calvin’s health issues with celiac disease. This has included providing a gluten-free household. During a recent Instagram Story, Dreyer also shared a clip of what it was like grocery shopping. Noting the hassles that come along with it, she mused, “Why having celiac and being gluten free is so unfair!”
As she previously shared with Today, Dylan originally didn’t know about the disease until she learned about it from a friend. She explained, “I knew nothing about celiac disease. I knew a friend of a friend had it, and she couldn’t eat bread. That’s basically the knowledge I had.” However, Calvin’s diagnosis soon came about after she saw him deal with pain, was unable to eat certain foods, lost hair, and even developed a scalp rash.
Dreyer explained that revamping the household to help her son was easier said than done. Not only did she need to be careful about the food, but she also needed to get new kitchen equipment. She explained, “Not only is it not feeding him any wheat products, but it’s also the cross-contamination risk.”
The Today Host Noted That Her Kitchen Needed A Complete Overhaul
Dreyer continued, “All of my stuff in the kitchen had to be thrown out. All of our wooden spoons, wooden cutting boards, anything that had a scratch in it.”
Dreyer noted, “Any rivets on the inside of the pot where the handle is. All of that had to be thrown out because gluten can hide everywhere.”
As previously reported, Dreyer has often had to go to the U.K. on assignment and, while there, has seen stronger support for the gluten-free culture. In fact, she has mused that things might be easier on Calvin if the family could live in the country.

Speaking with Hello! Magazine back in 2024, Dreyer shared, “I think it would be an easy transition if I ever were to go out there and my life revolves around my kids and with Calvin having celiac disease. You know, it’s honestly all I think about, I mean, all I have to do is feed kids all day long and it’s hard to feed him sometimes.”
Dreyer also shared her praise for one supermarket chain in particular. At the time, she shared, “I just want to say kudos to Waitrose and, you know, really so many of the grocery stores in the UK, because I mean celiac disease here in the United States.”
“I don’t know if it’s not taken as seriously or what. But it’s like more of a nuisance in the United States and you have to kind of find places where you can, maybe get some stuff and it’s okay.”
