England completed their first Test series victory since late 2024 after defeating Pakistan by 194 runs in the second Test at Lord’s. The hosts produced another impressive bowling performance to dismiss Pakistan for 194/9 in their fourth innings while defending a target of 389.
Ollie Robinson was the standout performer for England, following his first-innings heroics with another four-wicket haul to finish with remarkable match figures of 8 for 35. Jofra Archer also played a key role with the ball, while Saud Shakeel offered Pakistan’s strongest resistance with a determined 97.
England set up victory despite Pakistan’s bowling fightback
England were put under pressure after Pakistan’s bowlers made early inroads, reducing the hosts to 77/4. Mohammad Abbas was particularly effective, eventually finishing with 5 for 57 in England’s second innings to claim his maiden five-wicket haul at Lord’s. However, England’s lower order helped them build a competitive first-innings total of 290, with Jamie Smith scoring 61 and Jordan Cox contributing 55.
Abbas was once again among the wickets as Pakistan were bowled out for just 110 in their first innings, with Robinson taking four wickets and Archer claiming three. England then added 208 in their second innings, with Dan Lawrence top-scoring with 54. Abbas completed a nine-wicket match haul, but England had done enough to set Pakistan a daunting target of 389.
Ollie Robinson and Jofra Archer seal England’s series triumph
Pakistan’s chase quickly fell apart as Robinson and Archer struck early. Azan Awais, Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam were dismissed cheaply, leaving Pakistan in serious trouble before Saud and Shan Masood attempted to rebuild the innings. Shakeel played a superb counter-attacking knock and brought up his half-century from 54 balls. He added 97 runs and shared a 97-run fourth-wicket partnership with Masood, giving Pakistan a brief chance of extending the contest.
Robinson returned after a rain interruption to remove Masood before dismissing Mohammad Rizwan soon after. Shakeel continued to fight but fell just three runs short of his century when he was caught at deep square leg off Josh Tongue. Tongue then cleaned up the lower order as Pakistan slipped from 140/5 to 194/9. Robinson finished with 4 for 24 in the innings, giving him eight wickets for just 35 runs in the match, while Archer claimed two wickets in the fourth innings. England completed a 194-run victory with a day to spare, taking an unassailable 2-0 lead in the series.

Pakistan haven’t won a single Test in the last 18 matches in SENA 🤯
• Last win: Lord’s 2018 vs England
• Since WTC started (2019): 0 wins in SENA
• Bottom of WTC points table now
They are at their lowest point in history.
Zero performance and just social media hype.… pic.twitter.com/cfIyigrGgD
