Lopez admitted she initially expected Goldstein to resemble his tough-talking “Ted Lasso” character Roy Kent, but was surprised to discover he was “kind,” thoughtful, and charming in real life.
“I thought he was going to be more like the character, but he was so soft-spoken and sweet and totally different,” the “Marry Me” actress said.
Director Ol Parker also reflected on the pair’s dynamic, revealing he noticed their chemistry long before cameras started rolling.

Goldstein, who co-wrote the film alongside Joe Kelly, said Lopez was always the first choice for the lead role.

“We started asking ourselves who the best rom-com star is, and without hesitation, we both said JLo,” Goldstein told People Magazine. “It’s easy to write a rom-com when you have JLo in mind. She’s the best at this stuff. We just wanted to write something funny and smart enough to be worthy of her saying yes.”
