For decades, the diagnostic pathway for a patient with suspected obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) has followed a predictable sequence. The patient gets tested in a sleep lab overnight, a technician scores the data, and the patient receives an apnea-hypopnea index (AHI) score that quantifies how often they stopped breathing per hour of sleep. If that number is high enough, the patient walks away with a continuous positive airway pressure therapy (CPAP) prescription. That linear protocol has generally made sense because CPAP was, for the most part, the only therapy available to patients. However, recent years have ushered in a plethora…
wilt call Nirvana, Radiohead, and Slow Pulp cornerstones of their sound, but none more so than Hole, whose 1998 anthem “Celebrity Skin” gave them their title. Today, the rising alt-rock quartet take the furious, darkly hooky edge of their namesake and pour it into their latest single, “bundy.” It’s the first glimpse of their long-simmering debut album, made with producer Carlos de la Garza (Paramore, the Linda Lindas). “‘bundy’ is an ode to the feeling of being trapped in a hurtful love,” vocalist Chelsea Rifkin tells AP. “Knowing that someone isn’t good for you, but you keep going back anyway.…
In most businesses, revenue is a straightforward measure of how well you’re doing. It usually tracks some version of value delivered, where more customers lead to more usage and more revenue. However, in healthcare, the blind pursuit of revenue can cause real harm. Although a revenue number tells you that a transaction happened, it does not tell you whether the patient was appropriate for the service, whether the care plan was clinically sound, whether the patient stayed in treatment long enough to benefit or even whether the business is building trust or quietly eroding it. If the transaction and outcome…

OTTAWA — Ottawa is replacing former broadcast journalist Tom Clark as consul general to New York City. The Trudeau government appointed the former CTV and Global journalist to the post in 2023. The Tories criticized the appointment and Clark was called in to a House of Commons committee to answer questions about Ottawa’s decision to buy a $9-million luxury condominium in Manhattan. Global Affairs Canada said at the time it needed to replace an aging residence with something appropriate for hosting guests. Clark will be replaced by former oil and gas executive Susannah Pierce in the role, which involves promoting…
For temporary migrant workers in Canada, a change in job or residency status could mean deskilling and degradation of working conditions, according to a study recently published in the academic journal Labour.Jason Foster, the study’s lead author, is a professor of human resources and labour relations at Athabasca University. The paper was published after researchers interviewed 148 temporary workers and 63 key informants like migrant representatives. The workers had all immigrated to Canada on a temporary status; 64.9 per cent were part of the Temporary Foreign Worker Program. At some point, each worker lost or changed residency status. Foster said he wanted…

Credit card companies are becoming unlikely accomplices in a new kind of shoplifting, as some consumers skip the return line and just dispute the charge instead. Chargebacks, originally designed to protect people from real theft, are increasingly being used to reverse legitimate purchases. Researchers call this trend “friendly fraud.” American consumers filed 158 million transaction disputes in 2025, up 29% from 2021, far outpacing growth in card transactions overall, Bloomberg reports. Some chargebacks are genuine, since online shopping makes it easy to forget what you bought or doesn’t give you enough time to catch a mistake before the return window…
Millie Bobby Brown is returning to Celebrity Substitute with a new outlook after becoming a mother. “I’m honestly worried that I’m not going to give good advice. I don’t want to knock anything out of them. I’m here as a mom now. So it’s a different lens,” the actress, 22, says in Us Weekly’s exclusive first look of Celebrity Substitute season 3. “I think honestly before my daughter, I probably would have been like, ‘All right here’s our boot camp.’” Now, Brown is taking more of a “gentle parenting” approach this time around, adding that she wants the kids “to…
BRITAIN and the EU officially signed a landmark treaty on Gibraltar’s status on Tuesday, ending years of political uncertainty surrounding the territory. The historic four-way ceremony in Brussels brought together EU Trade Commissioner Maros Sefcovic, UK minister Stephen Doughty, Spain’s Jose Manuel Albares, and Gibraltar’s chief minister Fabian Picardo. Hours earlier, the Gibraltarian leader had shared an emotionally charged photograph on social media ahead of the signing.
