I used to think burnout was a scheduling problem. If I could just restructure my calendar, protect my mornings, say no to one more meeting—I’d find my way back. I was a VP, then a COO. I knew how to optimize. I was good at it. So when I started feeling hollow despite hitting every metric that was supposed to mean success, I did what high achievers do: I worked harder, restructured smarter, and told myself I just needed to get through the next quarter.I was wrong about almost everything.Burnout didn’t come from my workload. It came from something I didn’t…
Gracie Abrams sent a message to her listeners on Instagram Saturday. DFH, her upcoming project, releases in less than a week. The indie pop singer-songwriter opened by recapping an in-person fan gathering in New York. “I loved seeing some of you,” she wrote. It “really honestly made me so happy,” she added. A Statue of Liberty emoji placed the event in the city. She followed with a note of appreciation for the people tracking the project. “DFH is out in less than a week and I just want to say how much I appreciate you caring about it,” Abrams wrote.…

Probate documents obtained by Us Weekly show that Daveigh’s mother, Cathy Chase, asked a Los Angeles Superior Court to appoint her administrator of her late daughter’s estate on Wednesday, July 8. Cathy specified that Daveigh left behind $400,000 in personal property but “no real property.” (TMZ was the first to report the news.) Cathy asked to become the administrator of her daughter’s estate because Daveigh was never married and had no…
Dangerous. Brazen. Unprecedented. Uncharted territory. Reaction in the media world has been swift and severe to the issue of subpoenas to five New York Times journalists who reported on security questions involving the new, Qatari-gifted Air Force One — a legal maneuver seen as a troubling escalation of the Trump administration’s campaign to control and intimidate independent media outlets. “The subpoenas are an extraordinary escalation in President Trump’s efforts to threaten and intimidate independent news organizations, and have a chilling effect on the work of journalists across the country,” said Jodie Ginsberg of the Committee to Protect Journalists. Media advocates…

NEW YORK (AP) — The sudden death of Sen. Lindsey Graham, a top ally of President Donald Trump and one of Washington’s best-known politicians, is renewing focus on the country’s aging lawmakers. Graham, who had turned 71 just two days before passing away on Saturday night, was far younger than many of his Senate colleagues and appeared to have been in good health. He suffered a tear in his aorta, according to a preliminary report from the medical examiner. It was the second time in less than a month that emergency personnel were dispatched to the home of a U.S.…
WASHINGTON (AP) — Inflation likely cooled last month as gas prices declined, providing consumers with some welcome relief even as renewed combat with Iran has sent oil prices climbing again. The government’s latest inflation report, to be released Tuesday, is forecast to show that consumer prices dropped 0.2% in June, according to a survey of economists by data provider FactSet. It would be the first monthly decline in nearly four years. Compared with a year ago, prices probably rose 3.9%, down from a 4.2% annual rate in May. Gas prices have fallen a bit more in July, suggesting inflation could…
