A Pennsylvania state lawmaker says he was ordered off the House floor this week for wearing a red, white and blue suit jacket ahead of the nation’s 250th birthday, touching off a partisan spat in Harrisburg days before the July Fourth holiday. State Rep. Eric Davanzo, Westmoreland Republican, wore the American flag-themed jacket and a matching star-spangled tie to Tuesday’s session, telling reporters he wanted to mark the country’s semiquincentennial. According to Mr. Davanzo, House Speaker Joanna McClinton found his jacket, which featured red and white stripes like an American flag, along with a blue tie with white stars, to…
Meta is getting into gaming with the launch of a new app called Pocket, which allows people to generate small, interactive apps and games using AI prompts. The software, a result of Meta’s acquisition of the team at the vibe-coded gaming platform Gizmo earlier this year, describes itself as “a creative platform for making and sharing gizmos,” which is what the interactive experiences are called. It also offers a scrollable feed where you can play with gizmos others have made. Based on the app’s screenshots in Google Play, there are many similarities to Gizmo’s original app, which is still listed.…
In a scene described by authorities as horrific, 16 children were rescued from a home in Vinton County, Ohio, where they had allegedly been living for years in extreme conditions of neglect, isolation and filth. A record 25.2 million adults under 35 lived with their parents in 2025, a recent Realtor.com report shows. That’s one-third of the nation’s 75 to 80 million young adults out of a total population of 341.8 million last year. The real estate website cited pandemic-era surges in college debt and housing costs as drivers of this “new normal.” The study noted that 70% of Americans aged 25 to 34 held jobs last year, substantially unchanged since 2000. “Something about their income level, debt load, or the cost of housing in their market is keeping them home despite steady employment,” said…
Hopper, the travel app known for its AI-driven flight and hotel price predictions, has agreed to a $35 million settlement following a lawsuit brought by the U.S. Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The lawsuit accused the company of misleading users by imposing hidden fees and misrepresenting the total costs of Hopper’s services. The case is another example of regulators targeting the use of “dark patterns,” or interface designs that manipulate users into making choices they might not otherwise have made, including those that hide charges, pre-select optional add-ons, or make it difficult to understand the true cost of a service. It…

Nobody was more obsessed with President Trump’s win-loss record at the Supreme Court last month than the president himself, who kept score on social media. He declared a ruling confirming presidential power to fire over political differences was “the biggest and most consequential.” The decision allowing political party committees to coordinate spending with candidates was “a big win for Republicans” and also “the First Amendment.” Allowing states to restrict women’s sports leagues to biological males was also a “big win.” His setback in trying to fire a Biden appointee to the Federal Reserve Board was “strictly procedural.” The high court’s…
Back in April, Reuters reported that Anthropic was toying with the idea of producing its own AI chips as a means of responding to chip shortages. Now, it would appear that the company is getting serious about this idea. On Thursday, The Information reported that Anthropic was in contact with Samsung to explore a collaboration around the pending chip. However, Anthropic hasn’t yet decided what the chip will be used for, how it will fit into the server, or how powerful it will be, according to the report.
