Bob Saget played wholesome single father Danny Tanner on Full House for eight seasons. He also hosted America’s Funniest Home Videos. The actor reprised the iconic role in Netflix’s Fuller House reboot, which aired from 2016 until 2020. He continued his career as a comedian after Fuller House ended. He was in the middle of a comedy tour when he passed away unexpectedly in 2022. His widow, Kelly Rizzo, has shared her grief journey since his passing. She opened up about their heartbreaking final moments together.
Full House Star Died In 2022
Bob Saget performed for the last time in Ponte Vedra Concert Hall in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, on January 8, 2022. Attendees later described him as “high on life” and in good spirits during the show. However, he was found dead in his hotel room the next morning after his family couldn’t get ahold of him.
Authorities pieced together what happened and revealed that the comedian had died in his sleep after falling and hitting his head in the shower. The police didn’t suspect foul play, declaring it an accidental death. His family, fans, and Full House co-stars were devastated by the heartbreaking loss.
He had only been married to Kelly Izzo for three years at the time of his death, though they had been together for about six years total. She honored her late husband by joining Season 2 of Fox’s Special Forces: World’s Toughest Test. However, she quit the show after just a few episodes.

Bob Saget’s Widow Shares Heartbreaking Last Moments With Him
Kelly Izzo recently found a grief journal that she wrote in in the months after Bob Saget’s death. She shared a devastating entry with listeners on her Comfort Food with Kelly Rizzo podcast. “I found my grief journal. I had no idea that I even did this, because I wrote in this less than a month after Bob passed away. And to be honest, I was still in such a fog that I didn’t even remember writing in this,” she said about the journal.
She added, “Hopefully, some of this can help anyone else who’s grieving, anyone else who’s processing, anyone else who wants to see the distance that can come in, for me, it’s been a four-and-a-half-year period.”
The grief journal detailed her final memory with her late husband. The couple watched Tick, Tick… Boom! together and ate Starfish before Bob Saget left for the airport for his comedy tour. The widow shared her biggest regret about their final moments.
“I told him how much I loved him, but we didn’t kiss,” she recalled. Kelly Izzo explained that she had COVID at the time and didn’t want to get her husband sick. “So we didn’t give each other a goodbye kiss, which makes me very sad now. But now at least I remember what our last memory was,” she said about the last time she saw her husband.
Kelly Izzo still mourns her late husband. However, she went public with her romance with actor Breckin Meyer (Clueless, Franklin & Bash) in 2024. She said at the time that he was very understanding about her grief and asked about her late husband often.
