Top Chef recently debuted its latest season back in March. Despite this, the Bravo show has already endured four schedule changes. Since then, fans have been weighing in on what they think could be the reason behind this on social media.
Top Chef Moved To The Carolinas For Season 23
Top Chef premiered on Bravo back in 2006. The show revolves around chefs competing in culinary challenges. Produced by Magical Elves Productions, it serves as something of a culinary sister series to Project Runway.
Many of the seasons are based around different locations. Back in March, the twenty-third season, Top Chef: Carolinas, premiered, which centered around places in North and South Carolina.
However, fans have noticed that the season has been facing a few schedule changes as of late, with it already facing four changes at this time. The May 4 episode was scheduled for 9:30 PM ET. The previous week’s episode aired on 9:45 PM ET, with it premiering on 9:30 PM ET the week prior. As noted by The U.S. Express, the season premiere was at 9.
The show had previously caused frustration when it switched from its standard Thursday night premieres to Monday. Previously, it was suspected that this change was made to get ahead of rival show, CBS’ America’s Culinary Cup. The show, which features former Top Chef host Padma Lakshmi, debuts new episodes on Wednesdays.
Some Fans Suspect Bravo Might Be Killing The Shows, Others Think The Network Has More Faith In Streaming
With the recent schedule changes, fans have already been wondering what could be going on. Some fans suspect that Bravo is losing interest in the show, noting that this behavior is often done to shows when the network is trying to kill them.
On the other hand, others suggest that the show isn’t quite in danger just yet, with Bravo being less concerned with premieres when many, if not most, fans simply stream the series. Regardless of the reason, some fans simply dislike the constant schedule changes.
Fans have since been sharing these sentiments on social media. Taking to Reddit, a few fans weighed in on the issue. Some comments included:
- “I don’t like Top Chef on Mondays with all these random start times!”
- “Honestly, this is classic network behavior when they try to cancel a show. I think the whole season will air, but I’m growing more skeptical that they’re going to renew for season 24 since I don’t know how much weight streaming actually holds, but last week’s episode only got 314k live viewers and there was a 16% drop from the previous week.”
- “I’m going to need to take a nap when I get home from work. Why do they keep changing the start time for this? It’s annoying.”
- “I am starting to believe the conspiracy theory that Bravo is trying to kill this show.”
