Brittney Hopper Worked For CBS News Los Angeles From 2012 To 2022
Hopper is a television journalist known for her work with CBS News Los Angeles for around a decade, from 2012 to 2022. During her time there, she covered all sorts of topics, from breaking local news to events like the Oscars and Grammys.
Following her time with the CBS outlet, Hopper has since worked as an independent journalist. She has especially become known as a contributor for Fox News @ Night.
Recently, Hopper claimed that CBS News wouldn’t let her question Dr. Anthony Fauci while she was reporting on COVID-19 at the time. This took place before Bari Weiss took over as CBS News’ editor-in-chief. In addition, Hopper claimed that she lost her airtime over her questions of Fauci.
Speaking with Australia’s News24, Hopper reflected being “on the front lines” of pandemic reporting. She alleged, “I remember after a couple of years of dealing with hearing this man and interviewing this man. And having to wear masks and having our kids out of school for years, I remember questioning what he was doing. And I got in trouble and pulled off air for a couple of days because I started questioning him.”
Hopper Shared That She Felt That There Were ‘So Many Questions That Were Left Unanswered’
After an alleged “apology,” Hopper was allowed back on the air. However, she left the organization in 2022. She continued, “As I’ve mentioned before on here, I was their puppet on mainstream media for so many years.”
Hopper claimed that she shared her story as a “wake-up call.” Saying this, she hoped that the news agency would reform in the future. Currently, Dr. Fauci’s policy recommendations are under investigation. The Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee previously held a hearing to question Fauci concerning the early days and origins of the pandemic. In particular, they were tasked with asking Fauci about the U.S.-funded “gain-of-function” research in China.
Following this, Hopper shared that she hoped that news outlets would use more scrutiny when it comes to questioning authority figures. She shared, “I hope that this is somewhat of a wake-up call for news organizations around the world.”
Hopper felt that Fauci “made up” the recommendation to stand six feet apart as “social distancing.” She was also critical of “wearing masks outside with not a single soul around us.”
Hopper maintained, “There were so many questions that were left unanswered. And let me give him the benefit of the doubt. That first year, many of us, we had no idea what was going on, but then when we started to learn more and more and started to really use journalistic integrity, which maybe that’s just been thrown out the window.”
