The Calgary Stampeders have signed American receiver Dante Wright, the team announced on Friday.
The five-foot-nine, 180-pound pass catcher finished his NCAA career with two seasons (2023-2024) at Temple University. In 20 games with the Owls, he recorded 100 receptions for 1,299 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Gainsville, Fla. native added seven rushes for 22 yards and 21 punt returns for 118 yards.
He spent his first four collegiate seasons (2019-2022) at Colorado State University. He registered 120 catches for 1,658 yards with seven touchdowns in 27 games. In 2020, the diminutive target was second-team all-Mountain West as a receiver and an honourable mention at punt returner for the Rams.
Wright ran a 4.56 time in the 40-yard dash at Temple’s pro day in March 2025. He added a 36.5-inch vertical and pushed 225 pounds 16 times on the bench press. His production and athleticism earned him a rookie mini-camp invite from the Kansas City Chiefs last year. The 25-year-old played two games in 2026 for the Orlando Pirates of the Indoor Football League.
The Stampeders hold the sixth overall pick in the 2026 CFL Draft, which is scheduled for Tuesday, April 28 at 7 p.m. ET. All CFL training camps are scheduled to open on Sunday, May 10. Calgary will play its first preseason game against the Saskatchewan Roughriders on Monday, May 18 and its first regular-season game against the Winnipeg Blue Bombers on Friday, June 5.
