    Canada wins men’s team all-around gymnastics gold at the 2026 Commonwealth Games

    Team Canada won the gold medal in the men’s all-around gymnastics competition at the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland on Friday. The Canadian team was comprised of Jordan Carroll of St. John’s, Newfoundland, Rene Cournoyer of Repentigny, Quebec, Felix Dolci of Saint-Eustache, Quebec, William Emard of Laval, Quebec and Ethan Ikeda of Abbotsford, British Columbia.

    Canada had a winning score of 241.4 points. England won the silver medal with 238.25 points. Australia won the bronze medal with 235.65 points. Canada reached the podium by 7.1 points. Scotland was in fourth place with 234.3 points.

    Team Canada won two more bronze medals on Friday. Mary Jibb of Bracebridge, Ontario won the bronze medal in the women’s 200 metre individual medley for Paralympians. Jibb is disabled on her right side after having a stroke at the age of four. Jack Gill of Brockville, Ontario won the bronze medal in the men’s 100 metre butterfly for Paralympians. Gill has cerebral palsy.

    In 3×3 men’s wheelchair basketball, Canada won their first game as they defeated Kenya 16-3. In 3×3 women’s wheelchair basketball, Canada won their first game as they defeated South Africa 19-3.

    In men’s lawn bowling, Canada’s Ryan Bester of Hanover, Ontario improved to a record of one win and one loss following a two sets to zero win over Anwar Hamada of Kenya. Bester is in third place in Section D behind Izzat Dzulkeple of Malaysia and Putul Sonowal of India, who are both at two wins and zero losses.

    Canada is currently tied for fifth place in the overall medal standings with three medals. Canada is tied with South Africa. Australia leads with 13 medals, England is second with eight medals, Nigeria is third with six medals, and Scotland is fourth with four medals.
