Cher appeared in court via video this week in an attempt to put her addicted son under a conservatorship amid his declining health. The move came after he was arrested twice within a three-day period. Keep reading for the latest on the court case.
Cher Attempts To Put Son Under Conservatorship
Cher’s relationship with her two children has been strained over the years. She initially struggled with Chaz Bono’s transition from female to male. However, they became close once she accepted the change and attended his wedding in March 2026.
The iconic singer has another son from her relationship with Gregg Allman. Elijah Blue Allman is a musician like his dad, but he’s also an addict like his father was. Gregg Allman died of liver cancer in 2017 as a result of years of drug abuse. He was only 69.
Elijah Allman, 49, has struggled with drug abuse for years. Cher filed to place his estate under a conservatorship in 2023. The matter was settled privately. She filed again in April amid her son’s declining health.
The “Stronger” singer claimed in the filing that her son was spending all of his money – an inheritance from his late father – on drugs and couldn’t manage his finances on his own.

“His mental health has severely deteriorated, his financial situation is terrible, and his drug dependency is at its worst,” Cher told the judge. Despite her concerns, the judge denied the request for an emergency conservatorship. However, the option was left open to file again at a later date.
Cher’s Son Arrested Twice In Same Weekend
Cher was denied conservatorship over her younger son because he’s currently in a psychiatric hospital. The judge ruled that Elijah Allman has no way to spend his money while in the hospital. Court documents revealed that Cher’s son received $120,000 a month from a trust set up by his late father.
TMZ reported that Elijah Allman’s only chance at release from the psychiatric hospital is to agree to a residential treatment program for addiction.

Cher and Gregg Allman’s son is facing jail time after getting arrested twice over the same weekend. He was arrested in late February on charges of assault, trespassing, and more. Elijah Allman was arrested again a few days later in a nearby town on charges of burglary and criminal mischief.
He heads back to court on June 16 to face the charges. Elijah Allman is going down a scary path that his mother has been down before. Hopefully, Cher’s son gets the help he needs before he meets the same fate as his father. Stay tuned for more on his pending court cases.
