Chris Streveler is returning to Winnipeg to celebrate his retirement from professional football.

The gregarious quarterback has announced he will be attending the Blue Bombers home-opener on June 11, allowing him a chance to provide pre and postgame analysis on 680 CJOB and interact with fans.

“It’s about to be lit! I cannot wait to get back up to Winnipeg for the home-opener — see all the fans, see all my teammates. I miss those guys,” Streveler said on a social media post.

“I know that tailgate is going to be popping. Bring out the fur coats. I might have to try to dust mine off and bring mine out of retirement. It’s going to be an amazing day — gonna watch the Bombers go get a dub, gonna do some stuff on radio, and most of all, interact with some fans. Love you guys.”

The native of Crystal Lake, Ill. announced his retirement in March at the age of 31. He suffered a torn ACL late this past season, marking the second-straight year in which he sustained the same injury.

Streveler burst onto the scene in 2018 as a rookie out of the University of South Dakota. He made 12 starts over two seasons with the Blue Bombers and played a key role in helping the club snap a 29-year Grey Cup drought in 2019. He then became a cult hero when he attended the parade donning a fur coat and cowboy hat (pictured).

The dual-threat passer then spent four years in the NFL as a member of the Arizona Cardinals, Baltimore Ravens, Miami Dolphins, and New York Jets. He completed 27-of-40 pass attempts down south for 231 yards, one touchdown, and one interception, and rushed 16 times for 75 yards.

Streveler returned to Winnipeg in 2024 and spent two seasons as the backup behind Zach Collaros, making six total starts. Over 66 career regular-season CFL games, he threw for 4,144 yards, 26 touchdowns, and 31 interceptions, and rushed 359 times for 1,740 yards and 41 scores.

The Winnipeg Blue Bombers (0-0) will visit the Calgary Stampeders (0-0) at McMahon Stadium on Friday, June 5 with kickoff scheduled for 9:00 p.m. EDT. The Blue Bombers are coming off an East Semi-Final loss to the Montreal Alouettes, while the Stampeders lost last year’s West Semi-Final to the B.C. Lions.

The weather forecast in Calgary calls for a high of 20 degrees and a mix of sun and cloud. The game will be broadcast on TSN in Canada, CBS Sports Network in the United States, and CFL+ internationally. Radio listeners can tune-in on 680 CJOB in Winnipeg and 770 CHQR in Calgary.
