CNN staffers are allegedly in full meltdown mode as they fear Bari Weiss may soon take over the network. They know what she is capable of and how things can get scary with her in power. Therefore, they are starting to worry about what is next. Keep reading for all of the details that are currently known.
Bari Weiss Could Run CNN
When Bari Weiss came into CBS News, there seemed to be a massive overhaul. Not everyone is happy with the direction, and it has felt extremely cutthroat. That being said, there is a chance that she can take over CNN in the near future. How is that possible? A merger is going on between Paramount-Skydance, which is owned by David Ellison, and Warner Bros. Discovery, which is CNN’s parent company. Ellison was the one who gave Bari her position, so with the impending merger, he could potentially have her oversee CNN as well.
Having Bari in charge is a very real possibility. However, it is allegedly one that staffers do not want, and it is causing some mental health issues. That should be enough to make it clear that she is not the right one for the job. Unfortunately, everyone is replaceable, as Bari has proven in her time at CBS. Allegedly, CNN’s executive in charge of on-air talent, Amy Entelis’ office, has become the new place for psych help:
“As the merger approaches, the 18th-floor Manhattan office of Amy Entelis, the CNN executive in charge of on-air talent, has turned into something of a psychiatrist’s couch for anchors and correspondents, who often drop in to air their anxieties about the looming changes.”
Moreover, Anderson Cooper, who just left 60 Minutes after two decades, seemingly does not want to work with Bari Weiss. He had previously experienced her authority at CBS, and that was enough. However, if Anderson were to exit CNN, that would be a major blow for the network. Therefore, they would have to think long and hard about the problems Bari would cause.
A Scary End
There have been so many changes at CNN over the years that any more may cause anchors and viewers to rebel. They have heard how harsh Bari Weiss can be and seen her work. It is no wonder staffers are scared of the boom that could be coming for them. The hope is that Bari will not be the one in charge, and if she is, she will learn from her mistakes. Or, she won’t try to mess with what is not broken. Time will tell what will happen, but for now, everyone is just venting their frustrations in hopes that this does not come to fruition.
