When we’re young we hope to inspire to be someone, in Andrew Dunham‘s indie drama Fairyland, Scoot McNairy couldn’t be that person. After a recent limited cinema run earlier this month Icon Film Distribution set to give the film a Digital release in July.
Fairyland is based on Alysia Abbott’s memoir with Sofia Coppola (Priscilla) producing. The film takes us to 1970’s San Francisco when Alysia is uprooted to the city after her mother’s recent death. A fresh start with her writer dad (McNairy) who is openly gay man now dating men.
Emilia Jones (Coda) plays Adult Alysia with the rest of the cast including Cody Fern, Maria Bakalova, Bella Murphy, Nessa Dougherty (Young Alysia), with Adam Lambert, and Geena Davis.
Freda Cooper reviewed the film for us a way back at Sundance London 2023, Freda described the film “as a document of a relationship and an era, it’s beautifully observed and re-created“. You can read Freda’s review here.
