Daisy Grenade have announced their new EP, So Much To Say, out May 15 via DCD2/Fueled By Ramen. Produced by Jake Sinclair (Weezer, Fall Out Boy), the EP features the duo navigating cycles of stagnation and confronting the realization that their own growth is in their hands. Several songs were recorded live to tape inside a church in NYC.
“We couldn’t be prouder of the work we put into this,” Daisy Grendade tell AP. “We feel like we’ve taken everything we’ve learned about writing, recording, and performing music in the last five years and put it together to create this eclectic body of work. This is really the first time we’re allowing you, the listener, to peek into our brains and hear some of our most personal thoughts. We feel incredibly lucky to have a group of loyal fans to get to share those thoughts with. Thank you to everyone who’s lent us their ears, and to the future listeners who stumble upon this record. I hope it finds you when you need it.”
Lead single “Girls Are So Lucky” is a sarcastic tribute to artists and challenges what it means to be a “girl in a band,” touching on financial struggles, cramped touring conditions, and not being taken seriously. “It’s a satire about the way people view us and our weird lives, exposing the glamour for what it really is — something far grimier,” they say. “It comes to you complete with a straight-down-the-middle 2012 dubstep breakdown, because why the fuck not?”
The video, shot in singer Dani Nigro’s grandparents’ house, was inspired by Skins and Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, mirroring their own warped high school memories.
Later this spring, they’ll begin their first headline run across America. $1 per ticket will support the Let’s Give A Damn Foundation, which empowers young creatives to advocate for causes they care about.
