The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Dakota Mortensen has been in the spotlight for some time, and it has not been positive. Now, Taylor Frankie Paul’s ex and baby daddy is saying goodbye for good, as well as detailing some of his regrets. Keep reading for more details as to what he is leaving behind.
Done With It All
Viewers came to know Dakota Mortensen as Taylor Frankie Paul’s partner. She appeared on The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives since its inception, and the two shared a son, Ever. Their relationship was anything but easy, and they struggled for the three years that they were together. During this time, the couple got into a vicious argument, and Taylor was arrested. Yet, she went on to get cast as the 2026 Bachelorette, and it looked like things were turning around. Unfortunately, her 2023 arrest resurfaced along with the footage of her throwing a chair, and her season was canceled.
At the same time, Taylor and Dakota got into another physical altercation, which halted the filming of Season 5 of SLOMW. Despite all the drama, Dakota signed on to do Alex Cooper’s YouTube series Unwell Winter Games. This was frowned upon because many felt he should be under the radar, especially since Taylor lost The Bachelorette. Now, Dakota Mortensen has taken a big step and announced that he is stepping away from reality television as a whole. He took to social media to share that his sole focus is now on his child, and regrets not doing this sooner.
He went onto turn off the comments on his message as he likely did not want any backlash. The Salt Lake City, Utah resident already delt with immense backlash from the Alex Cooper project. Followers demanded the YouTube special be canceled. They did not feel having him on the series was proper and refused to tune in. It is unclear if the show has already filmed or if he will still participate.
Losing Opportunities
Dakota Mortensen was supposed to appear on the new season of Vanderpump Villa. However, he was edited out, per Lisa Vanderpump:
“[He had] a brief storyline of an interaction with somebody else, and we just scaled that back because of the controversy.”
It is clear that Dakota wishes the world could see things from his perspective and the full story was not shown. Regardless, he is doing what is best for himself, and likely to preserve what is left of his image.
