The Edmonton Elks have released American offensive lineman Martez Ivey.
The 30-year-old had spent the last four years in the Alberta capital, including starting 18 games at left tackle in 2025. He was named an All-CFL West Division selection in 2024 and started all 66 games he appeared in during his time in Green and Gold.
The Apopka, Fla., native started his three-down league career with the Toronto Argonauts in 2021, dressing for one game with the team. He was traded to Edmonton prior to the 2022 season.
The six-foot-three, 305-pound blocker was twice named second-team All-Southeastern Conference at the University of Florida. He went unselected in the 2019 NFL Draft but signed with the New England Patriots as an undrafted free agent. Ivey also had stints with the Carolina Panthers and the XFL’s Tampa Bay Vipers.
Edmonton signed former Hamilton Tiger-Cats offensive tackles Brendan Bordner and Jordan Murray in CFL free agency, which made Ivey expendable after a difficult 2025 campaign.
The Edmonton Elks finished fifth in the West Division standings in 2025 with a 7-11 record, missing the playoffs for the fifth straight season. Cody Fajardo started the team’s final 13 regular-season games and went 6-7, throwing for 3,408 yards, 14 touchdowns, and seven interceptions. Tre Ford started the first five, going 1-4, and threw for 984 yards, five touchdowns, and three interceptions.
The Elks ranked ninth in net offence, ninth in net defence, and fifth with a turnover differential of plus-four. The club’s leading rusher was Justin Rankin with 1,013 yards, the leading receiver was Kaion Julien-Grant with 820 yards, and the leading tackler was Joel Dublanko with 80 tackles. Edmonton finished seventh in attendance with average crowds of 19,050, which was a 7.1 percent decrease from the previous year.
