Elton John is set to have a part in an upcoming Las Vegas promotion. However, this isn’t going to be a typical show for him. In fact, the story has gotten some fans worried that this could mark the end of his live performances. Meanwhile, insiders have been weighing in on the story and what to expect.
Elton John Will Be Involved With A Las Vegas Show Following That Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour
Starting his career in the 1960s, John is considered one of the best-selling music artists of all time. Throughout his career, he has had over 300 million records sold around the world.
In addition, John’s music has gotten him a number of accolades over the years. As well as being an EGOT winner, he has also earned Golden Globe Awards and the Kennedy Center Honors.
However, one recent development has some fans worried that John’s concert days have already come to an end. According to reports, as shared by Radar Online, he recently signed up for a hologram residency in Las Vegas.
John Was Reportedly Paid A Seven-Figure Fee For The Upcoming Show
The British superstar had retired from touring in 2023 after finishing his Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour. Meanwhile, the outlet shared that he is set to headline an immersive hologram production at the new Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas as it opens next year.
According to insiders, John has gotten a seven-figure fee for the production. Sources also shared that it will feature digital versions of the singer alongside Dua Lipa and Kiki Dee. They also claimed that the tech would surpass that used in London’s ABBA Voyage.

This also comes out as John continues to deal with serious eyesight problems. These issues have even caused him to rethink how he writes his music. As previously reported, in late 2024, John had to be led off the stage during the U.K. premiere of a musical adaptation of The Devil Wears Prada, for which John composed the music. At the time, he expressed that he couldn’t see the show he wrote the music for.
An Insider Also Expressed That This Could Be An ‘Emotional Moment’ For The Star’s Fans
During this more recent share, a source shared, “The hologram residency is being seen as a major signal that Elton has accepted this next chapter of his career. Fans hoping for another world tour will find this difficult to hear because everything points toward virtual performances rather than a return to the road.”
“There is enormous affection for Elton, but many people see this as the clearest indication yet that he has closed the door on traditional live concerts, and are saying he is trying to make as much cash as possible for his family before he reaches the end of the road. It is an emotional moment for longtime fans.”

As they continued, it was noted that it was hoped, on some level, that this could be the next level of musical entertainment. They shared, “Hard Rock was determined to secure Elton for the venue’s launch and agreed a seven-figure deal to make it happen. Everyone involved sees this as the next evolution of live entertainment rather than simply another residency.”
