Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) created history by successfully defending their Indian Premier League crown with a five-wicket victory over Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 final at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. While celebrations erupted among fans across India following the franchise’s second consecutive title, supporters in Bengaluru will not witness the traditional victory parade.

Here’s why RCB opts against public celebrations in Bengaluru after IPL 2026 win

After clinching back-to-back IPL titles, many fans expected Bengaluru to host grand celebrations similar to those seen after championship victories in other sporting leagues. However, reports suggest that RCB management has chosen not to organise a victory parade through the city.

The decision is understood to have been taken after careful consideration of safety concerns. Large public gatherings often attract massive crowds, and the franchise is reportedly keen to ensure that supporters can celebrate responsibly without any untoward incidents. Although the title win has sparked excitement among the RCB faithful, the franchise appears determined to avoid situations that could compromise public safety.

Notably, RCB’s decision is closely linked to the tragic events that followed their maiden IPL title win in 2025. During celebrations near the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, an overwhelming crowd gathered to welcome the team and participate in the festivities. The celebrations, which were meant to be a historic moment for the franchise and its supporters, turned tragic when a stampede claimed the lives of eleven people. The incident shocked the cricketing world and led to widespread criticism regarding crowd management and event planning.

The tragedy cast a shadow over what should have been one of the happiest moments in the franchise’s history. Even a year later, the memories remain deeply emotional for players, management, and fans alike.

Rajat Patidar pays tribute to the victims

Following RCB’s successful title defence, captain Rajat Patidar reflected on the heartbreaking events of 2025 while speaking about the latest championship victory. Patidar acknowledged that the joy of lifting another IPL trophy was accompanied by memories of those who lost their lives during the celebrations after the previous title triumph. The skipper dedicated the achievement to the victims and their families, highlighting the emotional significance of the occasion.

“Obviously, you feel bad. You lost your fans after winning the game. Not just the fans, they are the family members. I always want to dedicate this trophy to them. That’s it. I don’t have words to express that feeling,” Patidar said.

His heartfelt comments resonated with supporters, many of whom continue to remember the victims while celebrating the team’s on-field success.
