Ontario Premier Doug Ford is rejecting any idea of putting U.S. alcohol back on store shelves in Ontario without the White House first conceding in the ongoing trade war.

Ford was responding to a U.S. Senate hearing and Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s remarks that Canada relies on the U.S. economy and about the outrageousness of provinces keeping American liquor off their shelves.

Earlier, Prime Minister Mark Carney responded to a Radio-Canada report citing officials who said the Americans are imposing an “entry fee” on trade talks with Canada and are demanding concessions before negotiations begin.

Carney insisted Canada will not make any more concessions to the United States ahead of negotiations.
